It has been so encouraging to see our Scholarship Tree becoming beautiful as we raise money for our Aim Scholarship Program, which relieves the financial burden of playing field hockey for dozens of families each year. We have a STAR, a festive TREE SKIRT and lots of twinkling lights and ornaments...but we have room for more! If you can help, purchase one of the items below or make a donation in the amount of your choosing. - Buy a Candy Cane for $10 - An Ornament with your a...thlete or family's name for $25 - A strand of Lights for $50 - Or the actual Tree for $500! THANK YOU to the 24 families who've already donated. We've raised $1,720 so far and the campaign continues until December 31!

The Dry family has become a familiar face at Aim: all three children (Tegan, Taine, and Shaya) have participated in our club programing, and their father, Peter, has served as a coach in various age groups. Their family moved from Australia to the US, and they grew up playing field hockey! Outside of hockey, they are all involved in many things, and we want to highlight a deep passion they share as a family. In 2006, The Simunye (Zulu for We are one) Project was born after... Peter had a realization that we have a way to make a massive difference in the lives of children in poor communities, along with the lessons volunteers could learn: lessons of joy, resilience, community, resourcefulness and Ubuntu a quality that includes the essential human virtues: compassion and humanity. The Simunye Project focuses on three main areas of support: education, health and new and renovation buildings, and it has created sustainable and lasting change in people and communities. In 2007 The Simunye Project in Australia ran their first trip; a three-week experience in South Africa where volunteers do hands-on work in underprivileged communities. Since then The Simunye Project has sent over 450 volunteers from Australia and the USA, and raised almost 1 million dollars. Every cent goes directly to those who need it most. Now, the Drys serve in a variety of roles: trip leaders, organizers, community liaisons, builders, teachers, project managers, and fundraisers. In 2015, Peter and Samantha (Peter’s wife) started Simunye Project US, taking motivated students and volunteers from St. Louis, Missouri on an annual life-changing trip that rapidly builds skills in persistence, preparation, leadership and teamwork. They choose to work with a few, rather than many, communities and aim to take them to a level where they can begin to provide for themselves. This model has proven successful with three daycare centers and a primary school now operating. They have built three daycare centers, classrooms at Masweng Primary School, installed water tanks, vegetable gardens, playgrounds and more.
