The 2020 year is winding down and we have a few steps left: If you are an adopter and you plan to DELIVER TO YOUR FAMILY(ies) please contact them to let them kn...ow you are coming. We are getting many calls from concerned parents who are worried. Please put their minds at ease. If you are an adopter who is DELIVERING TO THE AGENCY, please do that as soon as possible, or call us to make arrangements. We are trying to get gifts delivered to families and need to schedule volunteers to help with this. If you are an adopter who can NO LONGER ADOPT OR CANNOT DELIVER to your family(ies) please contact the agency IMMEDIATELY. We need to get these families taken care of and cannot do so if we do not know they are not being helped. The agency can be reached at 364-1131. Please call us if you are unsure about anything concerning your adopted families.

It is always controlled chaos around here this time of year, but I wanted to pause long enough to provide an update on our progress. So far, of the 748 families... (2,434 individuals) who signed up, 433 families (1,215 individuals) have been adopted. We have seen a steady stream of adopters dropping off items for families that have been adopted, but only 10 families have been adopted today. WE NEED ADOPTERS! If you have it in your heart to help this year, we still have many small, medium, and large families, as well as individuals and seniors who could use your help this year. Please call 816-364-1131 and we can get you matched with a family who needs you.

Adopt-A-Family Christmas Deadline to apply for Christmas help approaching The deadline for applying for the Adopt-A-Family Christmas program is quickly approaching. AFL-CIO Community Services will stop accepting applications for the 2020 Christmas season on Tuesday, December 1, at 5 pm. The program’s goal is to serve everyone who needs assistance during the holiday season. Anyone who applies needs to be sure to answer any unknown calls they many receive as it could be agency staff calling to complete their application. Applications can be picked up day or night. There is a distribution box attached to the front of the building next to the main entrance. For any Spanish-speaking individuals, phone applications will be taken by appointment only. Call Maria at 408-796-9512 to make an appointment. When returning their application, applicants are required to bring the $2.00 processing fee.
