Congratulations to Danette Snyder from Blue Springs, MO who was recently recognized with the Terese Lasser Memorial Award for her service and commitment to the Reach to Recovery program. Reach to Recovery works through carefully selected and trained volunteers who have fully adjusted to their breast cancer treatment, to give support for people recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Snyder said, I am so appreciative of the recognition because working with the peers is enough... recognition for me. When I was going through my own breast cancer journey in 2004 I had never heard of Reach to Recovery and their mission. It wasn’t until my second breast cancer occurrence that I heard of the group and spoke to a volunteer and knew right away that I wanted to join this group and make a difference in another survivors journey. #ACSKansasCity #AttackingCancer #BreastCancer #ReachtoRecovery

We are proud to introduce Jennifer Marshall, a breast cancer survivor and 2020 Portrait of Hope. Jennifer knows the toll cancer can take and she knows where to find solutions to help ease the pain. Firsthand experience shows you that cancer has many effects on a person and their loved ones, both physically and emotionally. But throughout my journey I found solutions with the American Cancer Society. Knowing that a mammogram is what saved my life and learning that it was thro...ugh research sponsored by the Society that the first treatment for HER2+ breast cancer was discovered is what motivates me to give back. Jennifer feels she is now called to help others who have been diagnosed as well as help their caregivers. You can support people like Jenny today by donating at www.MakingStridesWalk.org/KansasCityMO. #MakingStridesKC #AttackingCancer #ACSKansasCity #WCW
