5415 Garden

I'm believing there are people who have begun to think about the 2019 gardening season. I've been told that it's good to plant carrots in the middle of March. If you reserve your bed now, know what your soil is like and get prepared I'll bet there are several great planting ideas. Bryan Stalder is our HNE contact for the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association and the 5415 Garden. We really need several dependable neighbors nearby to get a move on this project. Let's not allow all the past work to be wasted.

Even in the winter time I think about what a wonderful time I used to have working every day in the 5415 Garden. When I lived right across the street, it was so easy to just go there for awhile and do a little weeding or planting. I sincerely hope my neighbors in Indian Mound will keep up the dream that Rebecca Koop first introduced to make this property a lovely focal point of our community. I'm not around much as I'm with my Mom now. I'm having a great time being with her, fixing her meals and taking care of the home we share but please know that in my heart I am believing for good growth at 5415.

Although I am not able to be at the 5415 Garden, I am so thankful that others have taken the time to continue with the upkeep of it. Brian Stalder is the president of the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association and can answer questions for those who hope to grow veggie, etc there. I don't know if anyone is working on maintaining this FB page or not. I know there were actually two different pages started for this garden as I tried to start one and didn't really know how. Another member "Lynch" who has since moved away started a page too. Dorri Partain and Rebecca Koop may also know if either page is active.

I was doing some yard work at my St. John and Drury place last Saturday and noticed a new person working in the 5415 Garden. I didn't have time to go meet her but said a little prayer of gratitude for that beautiful community space and for those who have picked up the ball and run with it. I sure wish those who are working the garden there would use this page to tell us how it's going. I still have the 4' high chain link fencing for the East terrace and I got word last week that my family will also donate enough barbed wire for the top of it. All we need is some hardware. Anybody working on that? Bryan, Rebecca, Jenna. Please post any news. I've been real focused on taking care of my mom. SHe's back home now and doing better.

Thanks to all who came out to the Monday night meeting for Indian Mound Neighborhood Assn at the 5415 Garden. Good turn out. Thanks to KCPD, KC waste services and othere who presented information for us. Big blessings to those who signed up to volunteer and become members at the garden. Hope someone will post pics. I saw some with cameras.
