COVID-19 Update: We would like to give an update to our friends and families regarding new regulations that are being implemented ftomrorow. Currently Loch Haven is free from the virus, and we continue to monitor staff and residents. We miss you all very much... prayers as we approach this next unknown. CMS (Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services) has implemented new regulations for Long Term Care communities. This new requirement is effective on 9/2/2020. TYPE OF TESTING ...AND FREQUENCY For the testing requirements, either PCR or antigen can be used but antibody tests are not permitted. Facilities will be required to conduct three types of testing: Symptomatic Testing: Test any staff or residents who have signs or symptoms of COVID-19 (facility must continue screening all staff, residents and other visitors). Outbreak Testing: Test all staff and residents in response to an outbreak (defined as any single new infection in staff or any nursing home onset infection in a resident) and continue to test all staff and residents that tested negative every 3-7 days until no news cases for at least 14 days since the most recent positive result. Routine Testing: Test all staff based on the extent of the virus in the community using CMS’ published county positivity rate in the prior week as the trigger for staff testing frequency. CMS will publish reports of COVID-19 county-level positivity rates County Positivity Rate in the Past Week Minimum Testing Frequency Low **42 <5% Once a month Medium **30 5% -10% Once a week* High **43 >10% Twice a week* *This frequency presumes availability of Point of Care testing on-site at the nursing home or where off-site testing turnaround time is less than 48 hours. **Indicates the number of Missouri counties in each of the Community COVID-19 Activity Facilities should monitor and adjust testing frequency based on the county positivity rate. Macon County is currently in the <5% testing category. This routine testing does not count towards the three phases of reopening for the long term care facility (which Phase 2 & 3 would allow some families in). Noncompliance for this new regulation, CMS expects to fine facilities across the nation at a minimum of $8.1 million and high of $62.9 million. Please contact Administration with any questions. We will try to get out information to you as soon as it becomes available.

Macon County Nursing Home Tax Levy Campaign 22.09.2020

I'm going to bend your ear one last time about the Macon County Nursing Home District, Loch Haven vote tomorrow, August 6th. I've poured my heart into this levy... campaign, because that's how I do things when I feel as strongly about them as I do this... helping Loch Haven survive. Keeping it a home for 120-125 residents. Keeping it a place of employment for 220 workers, that look forward to going to work there every day. Keeping 5 million dollars of payroll revenue in this county that I love, Macon. In a way, I wanted everyone to love this effort as much as I do, I hope that's been expressed. I will promise you that as long as I serve on this board of directors, I will do my very best to make decisions that are in the best interest of Loch Haven, it's residents and it's employees. I know the CURRENT board members well, and I know they are right there with me on this. We (the board and administrator) will see to it that your hard earned tax dollars are utilized in a saving and efficient manner, to the very best of our abilities. I want to relate a quick story about a dear friend of mine She's incredibly smart, witty, street wise and a joy to be with. She told me a small boy was in her office and was parroting what he'd heard his father say about taxes being horrible. This is what she said... *"You are part of the biggest and the best club in the whole world. The United States of America and the state of Missouri. Whenever you are part of a club, no matter what, there are membership dues that must be paid to keep that club functioning. THAT is what your taxes are for. They let you be a member of the most spectacular club on earth and earn the benefits of being in it."* I'll never forget that story, because it's 100 percent fact. Loch Haven has had the very same 15 cent tax rate for 50 years. There is NOTHING that we pay for that remains the same for 50 years. The 35 cent per 100 dollars accessed valuation is desperately needed. Please go to the polls tomorrow, wherever you vote in Macon County tomorrow, and support this wonderful thing that we have... Loch Haven Nursing Home. Vote YES! Feel free to share this. Thank you.
