I cried today... I cried for the eight-year-old Rudy who couldn’t understand what he had done to be treated like a second class citizen (followed through stores... like a thief, relegated to segregated restrooms and water fountains, and required to sit in the back of public spaces) I cried today for the everyday people who marched, who were doused by water hoses, and chased by dogs for the right to vote. I cried for the pioneers of change, who risked their lives by living courageously in obscurity while refusing to be marginalized because of the color of their skin. I cried today the families of the deceased who died from both the weaponized contagion deemed Covid19 and from the unlawful use of deadly force in the hands of those sworn to protect and serve. I cried today for my grand-babies, who will have to contend with the same ruthless laws and policies their predecessors have contended with over the past 400 years; Policies designed to disrespect their humanity, to restrict their freedom, and to limit opportunity. I cried today for the-real, grown-ass, 64-year old Rudy who can’t stop crying while saying ... the time is now! #learningtobe #thetimeisnow #loveperiod #vote
