Not all disabilities are visible! Roughly 15% of the world's population, or more than 1 billion people, are living with a disability. 450 million are living with a mental or neurological condition and 2/3 of these people will not seek professional medical help, largely due to discrimination and neglect. Today we celebrate National Persons with Disabilities Day by spreading awareness for invisible disabilities. It's important for professionals in the Affordable Housing industry to become knowledgeable in this area. Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) Information for 2021 Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for approximately 70 million Americans will increase 1.3 percent in 2021. The 1.3 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits payable to more than 64 million Social Security beneficiaries in January 2021. Increased payments to more than 8 million SSI beneficiaries will begin on December 31, 2020. (Note: some people receive both Social Security and SSI benefits) https://www.ssa.gov/cola/
