Covid and Blood Sugar Death Correlation Study reveals high blood sugars increase your chance of dying if you get Covid. At the end of November, Medscape published commentary on an observational study out of Spain. The study identified glucose (non-fasting) as a critical indicator of COVID mortality and the results were shocking. ... Those with glucose values greater than 140 had 2X the risk of death when compared to those with glucose 139 or lower ... and this was independent of diabetic status. 140 non-fasting. You could raise your blood glucose to 140 with the wrong meal! Observed Blood Glucose vs Mortality rates: Greater than 180 mg/dl = 41% fatality rate Greater than 140 mg/dl = 33% fatality rate Less than 140 mg/dl = 15% fatality rate Here's why so many people in Spain were affected: They don't treat blood sugar issues in a hospital setting until the values are greater than 180 and even then the means of treatment varies. All this to tell you that what you do with lifestyle makes a huge difference. Waiting to treat sugar problems until COVID turns up is absurd. It's like a fire fighter telling you the gas cans next to the open flame in your kitchen might have been a problem - as they're trying to put out the blaze. Share this commentary link with others. Post it on your social media. Everyone is concerned with COVID and how to best lower death rates. Here’s one everyone can work on today! Blood sugar management! https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/941716#vp_2
