YWCA Metro St. Louis 18.11.2020

It is not a partisan statement for YWCA Metro St. Louis to celebrate the fact that a woman (and a woman of color at that!) is the Vice President-Elect of the United States of America! The founding fathers did not give women the vote and even after the 19th Amendment passed in 1920, women of color faced a plethora of laws and regulations blocking their vote. Today, Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris stands on the shoulders of all the women who came before her and she brings along all the women who will come after her. The mission of YWCA is eliminating racism and empowering women.

Dustin Carfield actively works with programs including the YWCA to help prevent homelessness for Permanent Supportive Housing clients in order to keep clients off the streets and in safe, stable housing. Dustin goes out of his way to understand each client he has worked with and comes to the table with an open mind. He wants to truly understand their housing experience so that he can do whatever he can to support them in staying housed. That is why Dustin is a YWCA Community Hero! Duston has a passion to help bridge the gap in affordable housing here in St. Louis.

Schlafly Beer Tap Room is a YWCA Community Heroes Award recipient for providing a safe space for survivors of sexual violence to share their stories of healing at our Annual YWCA Hearing the Whispers & Roars Event. Schlafly’s has provided this space to YWCA Metro St. Louis for 10+ years. We honor them for working in partnership with us to end sexual violence. Thank you Schlafly's Tap Room!
