Dear Yin Yang fans, We’ve reached an end of an era. What does that mean for us? I was merely 19 years old when I first stepped foot into SoCo and witnessed my first drag show. I was immediately captivated. But they closed just a few months after I had arrived. I didn’t suffer the emotional loss that so many SoCo fans had. Yin Yang opened soon afterwards and became the new beacon for drag and LGBTQ nightlife, and I made it my mission for it to be my home. I started out at the... bottom of the barrel. Doing every show I could, supporting every entertainer. Hoping one day to be a cast member. I began winning titles, doing more shows, hosting, and eventually directing on Thursdays, and finally, when Muffie was ready to pass the torch, her and Jeff chose me to carry on the legacy. Show directing was an incredible privilege and challenge. I worked tirelessly to bring a variety of entertainers. To give everyone the chance to call yin yang home. We have so many talented people from all walks of life who’ve graced this stage, and I’m proud of all of them. Thank you to every legend, every beauty, every king, every weirdo, every singer, every dancer, every comedian, every talented soul that poured their heart into this business. We may be closing another chapter in our lives, but the book is far from over. Where do we go next? It’s so uncertain with the way the world is, but it is evident by the love you all have that we will not disappear. We will forever be a part of Columbia and I hope you all trust that I carry this torch to somewhere new. But for now, what matters is that we were here.
