Julia Greensfelder's United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) committee will dive into the political dynamics that produced the Paris Climate Agreement. While ice caps are melting and the Earth is warming; we must halt and mitigate the existential threats of global warming. Delegates will gain a niche understanding of the UNFCCC process creating a framework through which they can approach climate action in the future. No pressure - only the future of humanity is at stake!

Set in January 2019, Lydia Nickels's committee focuses on the turbulent environment of the East African Community, an organization founded on the desire to establish equality, prosperity, and strength for the nations of East Africa. Delegates from all walks of life representing six East African nations will have the potential to form a new Africa, but if their differing backgrounds and agendas get in the way who knows what might happen!

In Katherine Choi’s 1968 H3N2 Pandemic committee, travel back in time to a world not so different from ours today. You will simulate the H3N2 Task Force to tackle some of the same problems we see in our COVID-19 world. In the midst of social and political chaos that is shattering the nation, the White House H3N2 Task Force must protect the public’s health and safety while projecting collected leadership. This committee will begin in August 1968, when the H3N2 strain was introduced to the US.

1968 communique from the Soviet High Command: Czechoslovakian Communist Party implementing liberalizing reforms in contravention of Soviet policy toward allies in the Eastern Bloc. In Damian Servidio’s committee, you will simulate the meeting of the Warsaw Pact to discuss the matter with Eastern Bloc leadership. You must convince them to abandon reforms by diplomacy or force of necessary. Will you be faithful to this goal or exploit the chaos in Eastern Europe in the interest of your country?

With only a few weeks until WUMUNS XIII, we’re excited to announce our committees. Take a front-row seat in driving the course of Chinese affairs in Tian Geng’s 1948 National Assembly of China! In this committee, you will simulate a legislator sitting on the National Assembly of the Republic of China during the later years of the Kuomintang’s rule. Your job is to protect China’s interests, serve its people, and defend against a communist victory. Are you up for the challenge?
