Woodson Hill family, We are so saddened to announce the sudden loss of our beautiful lesson horse, Flash. He battled EPM and treatments for several months with good humor, but recently took a rapid down turn. It was acknowledged by both of our wonderful vets that he would only continue to decline. His goofy personality, intelligent laziness, and sweet nature entertained and taught our students for many years. We will all miss seeing his beautiful blue eyes in the barn, and were lucky he got to take so many riders to their first shows and for their first rides.

We have some exciting news!!! Both Rein and Friday have pending adoptions!!! This leaves us with some stall availability for horses needing rehomed. If you a...re considering surrendering your horse to a rescue program and it meets the following criteria, please contact us. Horses must be: - sound, sane and under 18 years of age -must pass a soundess/vet exam - broke to ride -owner surrender While we would love to take in older horses and broken horses, we are at max with companion only horses for our adoption program. We constantly get inquiries for horses who meet the following criteria and we would love to be able to help interested families find their forever horses while helping owners who need to rehome their horses! Curious what is the benefit of rescue rehoming? Benefits of going through our rescue include: - all our horses receive veterinary care from our team of incredible veterinarians and are current on all requirements during our care - our horses are a part of a lesson program (when applicable) when in our program - we work with equine chiropractors and massage therapist for our horses who need it during our care - we require references on the adopters and photos of property - our horses see a farrier for all hoof needs - all potential adopters must sign a contract with our rescue stating they will never: race, breed, rehome, sale or neglect care of horse. The rescue reserves the right to deny any contract deemed unfit after references are contacted. The rescue reserves the right to remove the horse from adoptive homes who fail to provide the horse with veterinary or farrier care, proper feeding protocol, any signs of contract violations or suspected abuse/neglect. When it comes time to find a new home for your horse, if they fit our requirements above, consider contacting Changing Leads! We hope to continue our mission of rehoming horses in the KC area!

Update: What an INCREDIBLE DAY!! We are almost half way to our goal of $1,000!! THANK YOU!!!!! Our sweet little barn is in need of some repairs! We are needin...g to update our office flooring as moisture has left it vulnerable. We will be updating some electrical work as well as our dry lots needing some repairs. Please help us get the word out to anyone interested in supporting an animal non-for profit! As you know, our budget is dedicated to providing a roof over their heads, food in their tummies and veterinarians to make their boo-boos all better. Unfortunately, that doesn’t leave us with much financial support to help keep improving the property. Ponies awaiting homes are expensive! But, they are worth it! Our recent expense to hit our budget has been our mare, Honey, who is being nursed back from a leg injury. Our amazing team of veterinarians have been out tending to it, instructing our team of volunteers and helping our cute little mare on her journey to recovery! Up next is dental care for our rescues- which can total around $700 for four, more depending on what they need. With the costs adding up, it is our hope to raise over $1,000. We know this is a very big and optimistic goal, but we also know our goals and dreams for this rescue are just as big and optimistic. We would love any support anyone can offer! A dollar, a prayer, a share of our post or page, a sponsor or even an item donation. Support can come in different forms- and it’s all greatly appreciated! Would you please consider donating to our cause? Thank you so very much to all who have helped us with recent donations, items from wish lists, sharing our posts, etc.!! Our program is a place for horses to find peace and love while they await forever homes. But, it’s also a place where many volunteers come from all stages of life to find peace and love within themselves while helping our horses. Our orientation date will be set soon, and we couldn’t be more excited to get new volunteers to join the efforts of our incredible veteran volunteer staff. They are so amazing- we are so blessed to have them!! https://youtu.be/AJa2hH4UBQE Thank you for joining our fight to help our horses in need while they await forever homes! And to continue to help those in our community!
