The molds for the soccer sculpture were delivered to the foundry yesterday! It's now up to Eligius Bronze in Kansas City to work their magic and recreate it in bronze. Anticipated completion is set for late October- early November.
In parting, I would like to thank Jenny Reinkemeyer and Paul Kiefer of Rocheport for their contributions to the successful completion of the soccer sculpture. Jenny loaned her daughter's soccer shoes for use as a model, and Paul loaned a soccer ball that was used to make a mold. Thank you both very much for your generosity!
In all the upheaval of the studio closing, an update on the soccer sculpture. The molding is complete, and the sections removed and cleaned. Now waiting to take them to the foundry. The foundry is currently backed up in their work load, and they don't have the space to receive the molds. Also, the dismantling of the clay figure has begun. There's some difficulty in tearing apart work that has occupied so much of my time and effort over the past few years. The saving grace of it all is knowing that the figure will be resurrected in bronze.
An update on the closing of WJW Sculpture. The buildings and property have been purchased and will require an earlier closing date. WJW Sculpture will now close on August 21st.
