Mite (8U) Families, We have the St. Louis Friendship Games in July. Due to a team canceling their participation we can offer the opportunity for individual 8U skaters to register as individuals and be placed on a team to play some games.... I have 5 slots open for kids to play. We are going to take individuals and form teams to play. The registration will allow you to select what dates you might want to additionally play. Sat. Winterland has one spot open for an 8U team to participate in the Saint Louis Friendship Games this July. We already have teams from the Ice Hawks, Winterland, Cyclones, Arkansas, Springfield, Mo. and even the Twin Bridges Lighting Flying Chickens. Age division is based on 2021-2022 season. People ask me all the time if all the hard work is worth it!! Without a doubt it is but when you get emails from people that have had a great experience and have grown even more to love the game,, it's not work- it's a pleasure. Hey Winterland, Blues Warrior (novice team member) here. Just wanted to send a huge thanks your way. Every single scrimmage I've been on with your group has been fun and a great experience. Your skill development in position, passing and puck movem...ent really shows and makes it difficult for us to move the puck and maintain possession. We have to work hard to remember what we practiced and to put it together to make plays; however, that often doesn't work out due to your excellent position play causing turnovers to you. We also continue to have too long of shifts and I believe that is due to your puck pressure. Fair warning, we're working on that! The highlight of my time with you so far is this last Sunday. I scored my first two goals outside of Warrior practice. Nothing fancy and I didn't actually expect to score. Just some knuckle pucks through two defenders putting pressure on me to dump the puck or pass back. They worked out though and that felt really good. I hope to repeat many good moments in future scrimmages as well as see some for your side as well. Thank you for welcoming us onto your ice! Winterland had the honor on Sunday to play a friendship scrimmage with the St. Louis Blues Warriors Hockey Club Novice Skaters. It was a great time for everyone. Winterland is happy to have the Warriors as part of your adult programs and look forward to organizing more Friendship Games in the future.

Winterland Adult Goalie Clinics: Registration for the 2021 Winterland Adult Goalie Clinics is open. With the help of the Racine Goalie Academy and their Instructors we are able to offer 3 Clinics this coming summer for Male and Female adult looking to improve their goalie skills. We only have 5 spots available in each one of the 3 sessions. Winterland had the registration open for it's Adult 3 on 3 Cross Ice program that runs on Sunday Mornings at Webster from February 28 thru July 18 with a few weekend offs during that time frame. We play with Boxes and not goalies. The program has two levels: ... Hockey for Adults is a big part of what Winterland offers and we have a couple programs that start in February at Webster. We have what we call our Sunday Morning 3 on 3 Cross Ice Box Pond Program. 16 weeks of hockey for fun. Our Box Pond Hockey Program will be a 3 on 3 cross ice format with teams made up of 6 to 8 players per team skating 3 on 3. Each morning Teams will play two games. Instead of goalies, we use Boxes like they do at some of the tournaments in Minnesota a...nd Wisconsin. We have learned over the years of organizing youth 3 on 3 programs that 3 on 3 cross ice hockey helps to develop quick thinking, passing and transitioning. Plus it's a blast!!! We offer two levels of play: Intermediate program plays 730am to 845am Our Novice/Novice+ program plays 900am to 1000am. The program is every Sunday at Webster from February 28th to July 16th. Winterland Adult Hockey We have 6 adult programs this winter available for Novice and Novice+ skaters. Some are weeks long and some are only two weeks long. I am not sure if anyone would be interested but if you have a little child looking for some hockey equipment to get started I have maybe what you are looking for. The size is Youth Medium but I would think 6U or younger. I bought 6 sets of these on close out thinking someone could use them eventually.... The Kit includes pants, shoulder pads, gloves, elbow pads, and an equipment bag. This is what the items look like. The whole Kit would be $50. Let me know if anyone would be interested. The skaters in this program are coming out of our Adult Learn to Play program and our Extended Learn to Play Program. Winterland Ice Hockey is now offering additional opportunities for children 9 to 15 years old to Learn to Play Hockey. Our JR. Blues Learn to Play for 9 to 15 year old's will be expanding the program into 2 groups which will allow us to register 10 more interest kids. We are planning to start June 20th. Winterland's 2020 Friendship Games scheduled for July 10-19 are for kids of all ages and skill levels. This is the 10th year of the event and it is more important then ever since rinks have been closed for months and kids have not had the chance to have fun skating and playing hockey. We have limited room for teams. But we do have room for individuals that would be interested in playing. Individuals can register and we will place them on team. Games will be played at Webste...r, Kirkwood and Brentwood Ice Rinks. We have special rates for out of town teams at the Springhill Suites in Brentwood. Winterland Covid-19 Up-date 4-17-20 Hockey Families, I am sending this email to all youth and adult Winterland participants no matter if you program is scheduled to start April 25th or later in July/August. I just want everyone... well informed. Now that Missouri Governor Parson has extended the Shelter-in-Place until May 3rd and County Executive Sam Page has extended the Shelter-in-Place until May 15th, I am totally confused on what will happen next but I do know we are getting closer to getting back on the ice. I am still waiting to hear officially from the Webster Rink manager and I am sure the City of Webster Groves is just as puzzled when things will open back up but I assume they will have to follow the St. Louis County Executive's order until May 15th at least. Like I stated before, Winterland has tons of ice available to make up the ice we are missing. Our instructors are chomping at the bit to get back to work and I know all of our skaters cannot wait to get back on the ice. I can promise you the day is coming and we will get back to playing some hockey soon. As I reschedule ice everyone must pay attention to the rink location. I had worked super hard last Fall to schedule everything at Webster this summer but due to the Covid-19 issue I have had to reschedule some ice at Kirkwood and Brentwood ice rinks. The web site schedules will list rink locations and I will send out a hard copy of the revised schedules as soon as they are solid. I am trying to wait until I get a date that Webster will reopen before I do a lot of rescheduling. I will not let you let down!!! So please Stay Home Stay Safe so when the rinks open back up we can get right back into things. You all can still work on your stick handling with a ball in the driveway or patio plus work on your shooting outside. Winterland Ice Hockey in an effort to make sure as many kids get a chance to skate this summer will be expanding their youth program rosters in the Mite, Squirt, Peewee and Bantam age divisions. Winterland will also expand it’s allowable registration for Teams and Individuals for the St. Louis Friendship Games in July so as many kids that want to play some games can. There are registration limits on the age groups so please do not wait too long to register.... Winterland has been super pro-activity in making sure we have enough back-up ice to reschedule any programs that might be affected due to the Virus Outbreak and rinks being closed.
