The men’s soccer team is continuing to write out program history this season!! The Blue Jays defeated Carleton 1-0 on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Samuel Lopez scored the lone goal in the 85th minute of the game from an assist by Josh Jaycox and the Blue Jays held Carleton from scoring in the last five minutes! They turned around and faced the host school, Gustavus, in the second round on Sunday. Junior Mitch Stewart scored in the 25th minut...e off assists from Drew Cook and Samuel Lopez. The Blue Jays had a few more scoring opportunities, but could not connect with the goal. Seven saves came from freshman keeper Raul Belman Romero to shut Gustavus out 1-0 and send the Blue Jays to the Sweet 16 Round!!! Information about the Sectionals game has not been given to us yet, but keep your eyes and ears open to the information. Once we find out, we will let you know!! Also, we are working on putting together a viewing party for everyone to watch the game together! Men’s and women’s basketball opened up their season by hosting the Tip Off Classic over the weekend. The men’s team defeated Elmhurst College 70-66 on Friday night. On Saturday the Blue Jays fell to Millikin University 47-55. The women’s team starts their season 0-2 after the Tournament. The Blue Jays fell 52-76 to Elmhurst on Friday and then 54-70 to Millikin on Saturday. Congratulations to Samuel Lopez and Sadie Theroff on being named Westminster’s Athletes of the Week! -Samuel Lopez scored the game winning goal in the first round win of the NCAA Tournament. He turned around and assisted the game winning goal in the second round of the Tournament that is now sending them to the Sweet 16! -Sadie Theroff went 7-14 from the 3-point line over the weekend. Congratulations Men's soccer and Women's Cross Country team for clinching the SLIAC Champion titles last weekend. Women's Cross Country will continue in the NCAA Regional tournament this saturday at Rock Island, Ill starting at 11am. Men's Soccer will continue to play in Saint Peters, Mn against Carleton College starting at 11am. The Blue Jays beat Webster University in the Conference Championship Game last night!! WE'RE GOING TO THE BIG SHOW!!! What a great night to be a Blue Jay! 10 Blue Jays that were named to the SLIAC All-Conference Teams. Way to go guys and keep up the good work! Also, congrats to Zach Moore, Andrew Presnell and Drew Cook for being named to the All-Tournament Team. And finally, a huge congrats to Michael McDonough on becoming the 2013 SLIAC Tournament MVP! GO BLUE JAYS!!

Also, good luck to the Men's soccer team as they play the semi final of the SLIAC Conference tourney! They were #1 in conference play! Go Blue Jays!!

Campus Classic is quickly approaching! This Sunday, Nov. 10th prospective students are spending the night and attending classes the following Monday morning. It's a 24-hour snapshot of what being a Westminster Blue Jay is all about! We're so excited!
