Me and the fam stayed at the Windyville store Friday and Saturday! We had a lot of activity as soon as the sun went down. We got Emf reading (there were none du...ring the day), Evp responses on the spirit box, lights turning on in the hallway (the light switch is in the padlocked hallway closet, and moving objects. Here is a video of some rather heavy weights moving on their own. I tested the floor by jumping next to them and walking all over the room and could not get them to move again. They only moved the 1 time See more

As of today The Windyville Store is now a residential property. After receiving the latest tax assessment and seeing they more than doubled the property taxes on the building, I just refuse to work my butt off to benefit a county that can't wait to get their piece of the pie. When you work to try to save a historic building and added absolutely no square footage whatsoever, and the assessors office decides to more than double your taxes as a result you have to wonder why ev...en try? I can understand it going up some but to almost triple it is absurd. Why try to make the area better, or save a building from falling and make it safer and less of an eye sore? Before I bought the building it was being lived in by addicts based on the paraphernalia we removed. This is why no one wants to bring their businesses to Dallas County. Because of this any motivation I once had to try to save the historic canning factory behind it is now gone. It will fall into ruins just like the store would have done had I not saved it. So screw it. I'll use it as a second home. Because I'll be damned that I will work to generate one cent of sales tax revenue for this county. I will more than make up my loss in the man hours saved and overhead. Going from commercial insurance to residential insurance alone will save me 12x what their increase had cost. Way to go Dallas County Collector!! Great job on running businesses out of Dallas County. You get your little bit extra for property taxes and lose 10x that amount in sales tax revenue. But more importantly you have given everyone a good reason to 1. Examine their tax bill very closely. 2. Not do anything to improve or fix up abandoned buildings. 3. Let the crack infested buildings just sit. At first I was mad but honestly this will save me a ton of money in the long run. The amount I put out doing all of the free events and making sure there was a safe place for kids to go halloween, I can spend elsewhere. One thing for sure is, I wont be spending a penny of it in Dallas County anymore. I'll wait to gas up the cars until we go to Springfield or Preston in Hickory County. Groceries, springfield. Anything is Springfield. The penalties far outweigh the benefits of trying to fix up anything in this county.
