In case you wondered what happens behind the scenes around here! Carrying eggs in your shirt and a baby monitor in your hand . Tuck the kiddos into bed first, and then tuck the fluffy ducks into their coop. One kiddo, however, was not asleep ... she was yelling for me so that she could ask me where the cat was ... we do not have a cat .... Clearly, the ducks are more well behaved , www.WindblownFarms.com

Anyone else feeling like the ugly duckling after several months at home? Nope? Just me and the ducks? Okay, move along . ACTUALLY these girls are coming out of quarantine like a bunch of queens! Ducks will molt (aka change feathers) generally once to twice a year. When this happens, egg production either slows or comes to a complete stop. When the girls come out of their molt, they look FABULOUS. The drakes will also trade their drab winter feathers for a more attractive set of feathers. So now you know . www.WindblownFarms.com

Busy like a bee! I think this is what I love most about nature it just works. Bees don’t ask questions, they don't spend time pondering why the world spins, why they have to collect pollen, or why on earth the queen is calling the shots. They just work. They pour their lives into their sole mission - to build the hive and they do it REALLY well. There’s something special about unity, teamwork, and knowing that your bee has got your back! And there’s something special abou...t honey . Fun fact: see those chunky thighs? Those are the pollen baskets and they are FILLED with pollen! www.WindblownFarms.com

We can’t let World Bee Day pass by without commemorating it! No joke, I saw what day it was, and looked down on the floor at my little assistant to find that he matched perfectly all on accident . Here are a few buzzy facts to celebrate these incredibly important little insects! A honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a collection trip.... A honey bee can fly for up to six miles, and as fast as 15 miles per hour. The queen bee can live up to 5 years and is the only bee that lays eggs. She is the busiest in the summer months, when the hive needs to be at its maximum strength, and lays up to 2500 eggs per day. The bees’ buzz is the sound made by their wings which beat 11,400 times per minute. www.WindblownFarms.com

Google Search of the Day: How far will a bee chase you? Google's Answer: If a honey bee has you 'marked for stinging' they will chase you no more than 100 feet from their hive. Nate's Answer: It's until you reach the furthest edge of the orchard ... .... www.WindblownFarms.com
