Just a suggestion if you're looking to support a local business in St. Louis! Cutting meat and dairy out of our diets leads to a huge reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from food production.
You may have seen our Student Organization Fair video for 2020 floating around on the campus screens.
Every time I took a deep breath outside, I thought about Eric Garner’s final few words, echoed recently by George Floyd: I can’t breathe. In my environmental science classeswhere I was often met with confusion when I tried my best to advocate for the protection of people of colorI was shocked to find the very clear data that communities of color have been most exposed to poor air quality and environmental conditions. I realized my work could directly contribute to the fight against racism. https://www.vogue.com//why-every-environmentalist-should-b
Mindful Monday: mindful eating edition. The main goal of mindful eating is to use an everyday, ordinary activity like eating as a way to deepen our awareness of... the present moment. Simple instructions: 1. Pay attention to all the details of preparing your food. 2. Consider where your food comes from, all that was involved in getting it to this moment. 3. Consider your relationship to food, and your amount of regular access to good food.* 4. Eat slowly and savor your food: taste, texture, aroma, etc... 5. Clean up slowly and consider what you do with leftover food, if you have food leftover. 6. Pause for a brief moment of gratitude or reflection before continuing with your day! *if you do not have regular access to food, CFS and Westminster’s Student Life can help you connect with resources, please reach out.
"Dr Benjamin Barratt of King's College London said: 'We have been given a natural experiment that we never ever expected to have to drastically those levels of transport emissions. He added the lockdown would allow them to study the atmosphere and then give feedback to policy makers. 'We have had huge behavioural changes forced upon us in this situation. We're having to adapt and behave slightly differently particularly how we work a lot more remotely. 'That should make us re...alise we don't have to take the car to work, we don't have to travel in to the office every single day.'" Read more: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-52114306
