Last night at the Wentzville Board of Aldermen's meeting, state representative Chrissy Sommer presented a resolution honoring the 50 year history that the city ...of Wentzville has with the Salvation Army's Bell Ringer campaign. Also present along with several officers of the Salvation Army were many members of the Wentzville Community Club. Earlier in the month, the Salvation Army presented the WCC with its annual Shining Star award. This award recognized the $223,000 contributed by the Community Club to the Army over the years. At that time, Club members were invited by the Army, to attend this presentation since the Club had a vital role in bringing bell ringing to St. Charles County. Fifty years ago, in searching for a project to earn his Eagle Scout rank, then scout Dan Lang, sought the advise of Viola Boland. Viola, who was deeply involved and on the board of both organizations, suggested that Dan work to bring the Salvation Army into St. Charles. And, the rest as they say, is history... See more
