The City Council has approved creation of a standalone housing department with dedicated resources and staffing to support tenant advocacy, homelessness prevent...ion and support, affordable housing preservation and creation, and overall community development. This new Housing and Community Development Department was created through Ordinance #210235, approved May 6, 2021, by a unanimous vote after several weeks of council debate and listening to public feedback. One of the key components of this new housing department is the implementation and funding of the Office of the Tenant Advocate, created to assist renters with a variety of available services ensuring safe and affordable accommodations for all Kansas City residents. The City of #KansasCity has also implemented several programs this year to help our residents with #housing & #homelessness issues. For more information about #KCMO's new standalone #HousingDepartment that is being implemented & funded by the Office of the Tenant Advocate, https://bit.ly/3eoPdgm.

Our Organization WELL Inc. has housed homeless individuals who have aged out of foster care. Phillip Hurd aged out of Foster Care. We housed him and he remains self sufficient and employed. Many individuals aging out of Foster Care end up in homeless shelters.

"The Move In Kits" WELL for housing is a (501)(c)(3) non for profit, tax deductible organization. What is a "Move In Kit"?... Home Essential needs to get started. Currently there is a U.S. government grant that provides housing vouchers to homeless and low income individuals in the Kansas City area. Unfortunately, that program doesn’t have the resources to provide the basic living essentials a person needs to get started after they are handed the keys to their home. "Hope In The Streets" has stepped in and provided everyday essentials to these individuals which includes; Bed Sheets, Kitchen Wares, Towels, Bathroom Supplies, hygiene supplies, and Non-Perishable Food Items, etc. Our Fresh Start Program provides the necessary foundation for individuals to start living on their own and to become self-sufficient early on in the transition away from homelessness. If you'd like to donate or have questions. Email: [email protected] Website: www.wellkc.org Send Checks: WELL 705 Virginia K. C. Mo. 64106 Thank you in advance! WELL
