So sad this happened. Do you have Missouri Mormon ancestors who were affected by this order?
When soldiers were admitted to the hospital during WWII, the military created a record using the soldier's military ID number. We have a collection of WWII Hosp...ital Admission Card Files that contain records for 5.3 million patients. The majority of the records don't have a name, but can be searched by military ID number. The records contain details about the illness, wound, date admitted, and more. In some instances, details of the injuries remains classified. This collection is a fascinating glimpse into the illnesses and injuries our soldiers experienced during the war. Search the collection using military ID number here: http://fnote.it/6xe9 See more
Earlier this week, the National Archives, in collaboration with the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture (MIAC) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, marked Indigenous People’s D...ay by launching the Indigenous Digital Archive’s Treaties Portal. Through this new website, users can view pages from the 374 Ratified Indian Treaties, find cession maps, search land transfer agreements by geographic location, and discover educational resources that demonstrate the importance of these treaties to our nation's past and present. Are you looking for a project to do? The Missouri State Archives needs help re-indexing 1956 death certificates.
October is American Archives Month, which means over the next four weeks archives across the country are planning to showcase what they do and why they are impo...rtant. Each Friday in October, we’ll feature a different Records Services department to give youthe Missouri-records-loving publica full picture of the state’s archives puzzle! Let’s start in Reference, a department that may be familiar to you already! Six full time Reference staff, each with a deep understanding of our collection, help patrons navigate our finding aids, answer emails and phone calls, complete distance research requests and, when called upon, provide presentations on Missouri genealogical research. They are also the smiling faces you see when you visit us in-person! Most of Records Services is not so public facing, so stay tuned in the coming weeks to meet some of our behind the scenes staff. #ArchivesMonth #StaffFeature
