"Like" and "Share" to spread the word... OUR 911 HAS MADE A QUICK LIST OF THINGS WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW REGARDING TODAYS WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS... 12 THINGS WASHCO 911 WANTS YOU TO KNOW TODAY:... 1. Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary 2. Do NOT call Dispatch / 911 to inquire about road conditions (Try the MoDot App for your phone) (During times of high call volume, the Dispatchers are instructed to disconnect from callers for this, to be able to answer the actual emergency calls...) 3. If you see a vehicle in the ditch is marked with yellow caution tape, it has already been checked by First Responders - Don't call it in, it has already been logged. 4. If there is someone still in a disabled vehicle, STOP AND ASK THEM IF THEY ARE OK (If it is safe to do so) This can prevent an unnecassry dispatching of emergency / limited resources 5. Ice is the great equalizer - doesn't matter how big your truck, or if it is 4x4, those other 2 wheels will slide just like the first 2... SLOW DOWN!!! 6. Yes, MoDot is out working on the highways, it takes time, nothing is worth dying for, be patient... 7. If you insist on driving, make sure to have plenty of fuel, warm clothes, and blankets in your vehicle 8. If you slide off in the ditch, you may need items from #7, until help arrives 9. Vehicles that slide off in the ditch, not blocking traffic, may be left for towing at a later/safer date/time. (Be prepared to leave it there awhile...) 10. Emergency Vehicles are not Magic Vehicles, it is just as dangerous for them as it is for you. They will come for you, but they will be travelling slower for safety. 11. Know your location! Keep track of where you are incase you need to call for help. 12. For those inquiring about road conditions, the following site has all the info... and it also has an app that is great for your smartphones... http://traveler.modot.org/map/index.html
