The Chamber Surprise Patrol Team shows up on the 1st day of the month at three randomly selected member businesses (one in St. Robert, one in Waynesville and one from outside the area). The sign will be proudly displayed throughout the month at their business. This is a way for the Chamber to highlight our members and surprise them with a visit. Take time to learn more about each member! #WSRChamber #ItsAllHereLocal

When you are asked to pass the salt and you pass the pepper as well, you are being attentive. By passing pepper along with the salt, you display that you are thinking not only of the other person’s current needs, but possible later needs as well. Your act is ethical in that it requires attention and consideration to carry out. How could one use their social media platform to display consideration of others’ needs -- in other words, how can you pass the pepper as well as the salt? #SpeakYourPeace #ChoosingCivility #BeInformed #PayAttention

The WSR Chamber revealed this year’s Board President's theme, Building Connections. We want this year to be about connecting our member businesses, organizations, and individuals. We want to connect through helpful information, growth for your business and self, and support for each other; all for the strength and growth of each other and our community. The Chamber has many things already in place; productive committees, meaningful programs, useful resources and we're always open to new ideas and suggestions. We're going to strive to build connections; we need you to meet us there. Participate. Offer constructive feedback. Share with others. Find us online and share with your connections. Our way of thinking can reflect how we act and/or treat others. If we think that the world is out to get us, or someone may be treating us wrong; then more likely we will act accordingly. But if we start with thinking the best of ourselves first, that will aid in us having a clearer outlook towards others or situations. #SpeakYourPeace #ChoosingCivility #BetheDifference #ThinktheBest

The Speak Your Peace Theme for the Month of November is Care for Others. Many of us grew up hearing the Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I would like to challenge everyone to start practicing the Platinum rule of Treat others the way they want to be treated. Most people do not wake up in the morning asking to be talked down to or called names or treated with a lack of empathy or compassion. Let’s start the month off practicing treating people the way they deserve to be treated with kindness. This simple act will go a long way in how we care for others. #SpeakYourPeace #ChoosingCivility #BetheDifference #CareforOthers

Today’s Behind the Community is a special interview with Staff Sergeant Daniel Barnes, USA, Retired, the 2019 Chamber’s Veteran of the Year. The City of Waynesville nominated Barnes last year but because the parade was canceled, due to inclement weather, he is being recognized this year. Barnes and Chamber Director Cecilia Murray discuss his involvement in the community; and the importance of being thankful for what you have rather than what you have lost.
