What if I told you police has no obligation to protect you? To Protect and to Serve the ubiquitous creed emblazoned across millions of police cars throughout the United States. This motto is consistent with the common belief that police officers as well as other law enforcement officers are here to protect us. After all, we are all taught to dial 9-1-1 when we need help. Subject to narrow exceptions the United States Constitution does not require law enforcement offic...ers to protect you from other people, according to the U.S. Supreme Court. This notion contradicts our engrained perceptions, but it’s still the law today. U.S. Supreme Court. Namelyon June 27, 2005, in Castle Rock v. Gonzales, the U.S. Supreme Court again ruled that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm. Police can watch someone attack you, refuse to intervene and not violate the Constitution. Joseph Lozito , found that the hard way. He was stabbed in face, hands, neck and head,he used martial arts to subdue the attacker until the officers who were watching came to finally cuff him. But thanks to the 2005 Supreme Court ruling that the police have no constitutional duty to protect people from harm, Lozito's case was dropped again. We just want to stress this: they won on the grounds that the NYPD are under no obligation to protect a man being stabbed to death right in front of them. But the judge who dismissed Lozito's case was sympathetic. She said his version of the events "ring true" and appear "highly credible." Though alarming, we simply have no affirmative right to police aid, even when a person, including a helpless child, faces imminent danger. Intimidation is a chump’s game. Sun Tzu said that all warfare was built on deception and he was right. Weapons are made to be felt, not seen or heard. People who are familiar with violence know that the spoils go to the man that can act most affectively first. Therefore if and when you’re dealing with a human who is trying to intimidate you, with that person doesn’t realize is that they are making themselves vulnerable by telegraphing their possible intent. People who... are not prepared to do violence or who are not that familiar with it, have a tendency to be intimidated by these showcases of force but to the initiated person, these demonstrations are signs of weakness. Because if you were prepared to go to war we would already be fighting, there would be no words, no Katas, no demonstrations, just the clashing of body parts, gunfire or whatever it is we would be getting into that day. The reality of this game simply is that you never know who you’re dealing with, large or small, male or female and you don’t know what their personal rules of engagement are. My advice is to be kind and respectful as your default mode for social interaction. Treat everyone as if they are capable of killing you. Always try to de-escalate any high friction situation because you never know how expensive it can get even if you do win. When it is time to go to work however Don’t talk, don’t showcase your strength, don’t waste any time on intimidation but rather do the work aggressively, powerfully, overwhelmingly and totally. Do not fight with your opponent, end the fight with your opponent as quickly and safely as possible. Nine times out of 10 if you can end the fight with your ego, the fight with your external opponent will be avoided. See more

Saturday night, I went to Moasic, A hip nightclub with awesome music and great people But sadly, mosaic has fallen victim to more security equipment means more safety9 B.S I was greeted at the door with a walk-through magnetometer that was handled by a security guard that obviously lacked any training to operate the equipment. ... My goal is not call venues out or cause them bad P.R but as professional and owner of well-respected company that specialize in firearms and safety its my duty to educate the public and venues alike on best security practices and assess current security measures. First, the venue had ONE metal detector only on the back door, while the front door was insecure. Which is obvious that the venue is not implementing security measures across all entrances. A person with bad-intention and little brain could easily go in from the front instead of the back door and avoid the metal detector all together. Second, providing equipment without training is a terrible practice. The bouncer who seemed like a nice guy showed signs that he lacked understanding of the equipment he was provided and has failed to detect some of items my group had on them. Third, metal detectors fail often. For example, Birmingham in 2018, metal detectors failed to detect a firearm that was shot inside a classroom Fourth, there is insufficient data in literature to determine whether the presence of metal detectors in nightclubs reduces the risk of violent behavior among customers, and some research suggests that the presence of metal detectors may detrimentally impact patrons’ perceptions of safety. I believe venues should focus on training staff, having standardized security protocols and using equipment to compliment security practices, but it must be paired with good training See more

Associated Press BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. Police in West Virginia say a man was trying to abduct a child at a mall when the mother stopped him by pulling out a gun. News outlets report 54-year-old Mohamed Fathy Hussein Zayan of Alexandria, Egypt, was arraigned Monday night in Cabell County Magistrate Court on a felony charge of attempted abduction.... According to a criminal complaint, a woman was shopping with her 5-year-old daughter at the Huntington Mall in Barboursville when a man grabbed the girl by the hair and tried to pull her away. Police say the mother pulled out a gun and told the suspect to let go of the child. The man released the child and was later detained by mall security and Barboursville police near a food court. Zayan was being jailed on $200,000 cash bond. Jail records didn’t indicate whether he has an attorney. See more

Law enforcement agencies tend to suffer from institutional inertia that comes from only conducting firearms training from within the department INSTITUTIONAL INERTIA There’s an old saying describing cop shops as decades of tradition unhampered by progress. It’s tragically accurate. SWAT tends to be pretty good about sharing techniques with each other, but the majority of law enforcement suffers from institutional inertia. One cause of this phenomenon is our insular nature as ...referenced above. There are a lot of theories as to its origin, but the most logical is that cops are accustomed to being in control. Losing control of a situation at our job can have the direst of consequences. Turning that precious control over to someone else, e.g., a non-sworn instructor, is challenging and uncomfortable. I encourage you to push through that emotional roadblock and experience new ideas from the private training community. TOPICS Private firearms trainers teach skills and techniques that cops need but don’t get internally. For example, how many cops get trained in the proper use of concealment and plain clothes holsters? What about advanced studies of criminal behavior and deadly force? Those are important classes. However, they are minutia compared to the monumental amount of information that must be imparted by training divisions and police academies just to meet minimum standards in a finite amount of time. An added benefit for instructors is the ability to bring those ideas and skills back to your department. . . WHO WILL BE THERE? In the law enforcement culture, training is often considered an obligation rather than an opportunity. Too often I hear, I don’t need to go to that class. I have my training hours for the year. Obviously, we shouldn’t just attend classes to meet the state’s minimum standards or to get a certification. People who pay to attend private firearms training have a better perspective and are more receptive students. Also, I’ve noticed that financially investing in learning has helped may cops become better student in their cop classes as well.

So many people have raised the questions why the SIX off duty cops in the bar were unarmed. Please stop blaming California and/or the cops and read the law . Off duty cops can carry ( federal law ) under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) . however, in In 18 USC 926B(c) it states the officer must be sober ( (5) is not under the influence of alcohol or another intoxicating or hallucinatory drug or substance.... Therefore officers are not allowed to carry when drinking, and must respect the law, because they could face internal penalties that gets them fired. Officers are also barred from carrying on private property where concealed weapons are banned. Most concealed carry states require such private establishments to post signs at every entrance.
