The railroad received a generous donation of a Southern Pacific Style B semaphore this fall. Volunteers worked over the last two months to overhaul the mechanism and pour a suitable concrete pad for its permanent installation. It features a window in the door to show how it operates along with buttons on the rh side so that it can be easily demonstrated to patrons during events. Thank you to all involved.
We now have a variety of WF&P branded face masks and other items available via our Company Store! Visit the following link to check them out and place your order today! https://teespring.com/stores/wfprr
Let’s take a spin on the turntable!
Descending westbound at Summit.
The cool temps make for quite the show in the fall.
We just wanted to remind our friends here that we are closed to the public for the remainder of the 2020 season due to group size restrictions. Over the next two weekends you may see our trains out and about on the railroad for a few private events for our members and their families. Please know we will not be able to give any rides to the public during those few small members only events. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to the possibility of you all joining us for a ride next season!
Today is throwback Thursday for us and today we are throwing it back to the other greenly designed and English built pacific number 401! Seen here after being donated by member Lew Schneider and running on our mainline in the early 2000's. The engine was built along side 400 in England for the Philadelphia sesquicentennial celebration of 1926 and had been converted to 16 inch gauge by a previous owner sometime after the event. We are actually interested in finding photos of the engine running as a 16 inch gauge engine for our historical archives. We would also be interested in photos of the two engines while they ran at the treasure island display during the 1926 exhibition.
Thus far we have been able to raise $3,972.00 for the Pandemic Support Fund! We would like to thank all of our supporters that have donated. Your donations and continued support will help us continue to be able to provide the community with a unique family experience for many years to come. We ask you to please consider sharing this campaign with your family, friends, coworkers, and community groups.
The Pandemic Support fund to offset the loss revenue due to the cancellation of our 2020 public operations is almost to $4000! Please consider making a gift today to help ensure that generations to come can continue to enjoy the railroad that has helped families make great memories since 1939.
We would like to remind everyone that there are no regularly scheduled public operations through the end of our regular 2020 operating season. With the current restrictions enacted by St. Louis County we believe that it would be difficult to operate in a socially responsible manner that would protect our guests and volunteers. These weekends in the fall traditionally draw out over 1000 passengers each Sunday! We have discovered that Google search results are erroneously showing we are open on Sundays and we are working on rectifying that. Thank you for the support, and we hope everyone has a safe October !
Our right of way follows a portion of the original St. Louis to Pacific alignment.
It’s 9/28, so here is a short clip of locomotive 928 highballing westbound between Mohan and Bluffs on the mainline. It’s been a tad lonely without all of our friends riding with us this season and we hope you all get to join us next year for a great time on the high iron! 1000's of hours of volunteer work goes into maintaining the railroad every year along with the regular revenue from the rides we give to the community. Help us continue this tradition by considering a donation to our Pandemic Relief Fund on gofundme. All proceeds will go directly into the railroad so that families in the Greater Saint Louis Area will be able to enjoy it for generations to come. Give today: https://gf.me/u/yxvcya
Throwback Thursday takes us back to Brown rd. once again where we find locomotive 171 on the point of a maintenance of way train. 1000's of hours of volunteer work goes into maintaining the railroad every year along with the regular revenue from the rides we provide during a normal operating season. Help us continue this tradition by considering a donation to our Pandemic Relief Fund on gofundme. All proceeds will go directly into the railroad so that families in the Greater Saint Louis Area will be able to enjoy it for generations to come. Give today: https://gf.me/u/yxvcya
We would like to thank a few private donors that have donated this Union Switch & Signal semaphore case and WiFi hardware that will be installed at the railroad this fall to help us move forward with technology required to flourish these days. We can only continue infrastructure improvements like this with the help of dedicated friends like you. Please consider helping out by donating to our Pandemic Support fund that has now raised over $3700.00. The campaign is helping offset the loss revenue for 2020 and ensuring the future of the organization that has been enjoyed by Saint Louis area families for over 5 generations. The WF&P now has a facebook store! We have started out with 3 new items that include iPhone cases for most models. There is a neck gaiter style face mask that features the WF&P herald. Finally we have a new t-shirt available in a variety of styles and colors that feature locomotive 171. This was the engine that started it all back in 1939. Products are made to order by Teespring and typically ship weekly. Thank you for your support and we hope to add more products, including those we usually sell at the railroad, as we go forward.
