Boone County History & Culture Center Presents: ROOTS & REACHES This free virtual community concert & webathon will be live at https://boonehistory.charityproud.org/donate Saturday, December 5, 2020 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Boone County History & Culture Center is proud to sponsor a community-wide virtual telethon featuring students, teachers, and performers from the local community. Funds raised from the free event will benefit the John W. Blind Boone Foundation and the... Boone County Historical Society’s endowment trust. Hosted by co-producers and emcees Robin Anderson & Audra Sergel of the podcast Musicians Dish, the event will showcase the talents of over forty student and educator performers with roots in Boone County and Columbia. Featuring an impressive roster of local music teachers and their students, the approximately three-hour live telecast will take place entirely online on the organization's YouTube channel and will take you into the homes and studios of entertainers for a wonderful afternoon of music. The event is free but donations will be encouraged. Viewers may tune in live via the BCHS Youtube Channel (also accessible at Donate and View Concert) or the organization’s Facebook page

The Sharp End Heritage Committee invites everyone to help celebrate the completion of the African American Heritage Trail by attending a virtual dedication tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11:30 a.m., at www.facebook.com/SharpEndCoMo. During the online event, organizers will unveil a new marker to be installed in Flat Branch Park in the coming days. Local officials will help recognize the significance of the trail, and committee members will recognize contributors and provide a video to preview a section of the trail.

The Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site is the burial site of Missouri's 22nd governor, Charles Hardin, along with the descendants of George Jewell. The most well-known member of the Jewell family, Williams Jewell, died while establishing a college in Liberty, MO and now rests here.
