The execution of proper fundamentals and something that flys. Or used to fly.

Let's see where this leads.... Why are these shots left of center?

Recently I had the opportunity to work with a man who's been the student of 2 different local "shooting school's" and of those 2 schools he's taken a total of 3 classes. A quick assessment of his skills when he showed up. No understanding of grip, draw, sight picture, mag placement in carrier or understanding of proper reloading technique, he also was unable to make any hits on a 3x5 card at 7 yards. We broke things down step by step. Within a 2hr period he is now mak...ing hits on 3x5 cards, not from the 7yd line but rather the 15yd line. He now has a basic understanding of diagnosing his missed shots and actually has a foundation to build on. Keep in mind, I spoke to this man on the phone before we got to the range. He was confident in his skills, after all he had already taken 3 tactical classes and was looking for more "tactical training ". I'm still not sure what tactical training is if you've not been taught the basic fundamentals but I digress. So the question I have for you is this. What have you been paying for in training? To have someone watch you shoot drills, give you a pat on the back and say "Good job! Here's your certificate!" Or is your instructor actually instructing and teaching by giving you feed back that's helping you learn? In my opinion, a instructor who's running folks through drill after drill without good feedback is nothing more that a glorified range supervisor. He's selling classes, giving false confidence to his students and doing everyone who's giving him money a disservice. Know what your paying for, and if you're not learning ask for your money back and find somewhere else to train. Stay Vigilant. -Gary
