As posted in the BIG 10 Facebook page: NATIONAL CONVENTION UPDATE Comrades and Auxiliary Members, A workshop was held with the National Council Members earlie...r today. CIC Roesch explained that National reached out to about a dozen cities to see if they could host our National Convention. Only one met the criteria we needed or had capacity Kansas City, MO. After lengthy discussions and numerous questions, it was apparent that the Council Members were in favor of approving KC. CIC then converted the workshop to a Special Council Meeting. A motion was made and seconded to hold the National Convention in KC. The vote passed unanimously. There will be a lot of details to follow, but let me summarize some of the key points: This will be a business only convention taking place 7/31/21-8/3/21. 7/30 and 8/4 will be travel dates. There will be no restrictions on who may attend. Conference caucuses will be held. Workshops will be held. Members will not be required to show proof of vaccinations. Under current KC guidelines, we will not have to observe social distancing but while on the convention floor sitting together, we will have to wear masks. No distinguished guests. There will be no joint opening. There will be no patriotic rally. There will be no health fair. There will only be a limited number of exhibits the VFW store will participate. There will be no memorial service. There will not be a CIC National President reception. As soon as the contracts with the hotels are signed the web site will be updated for hotel registration. If you registered for the national convention in Baltimore you will not have to re-register for KC. Quartermasters may mail in the convention registration form the received with their election report mailing in February. I recommend you check the VFW and VFW Auxiliary websites frequently for updates. I do not anticipate anything new for several days. See more

Alright folks, the time has come. We are restocking everything now to prepare to open. The Auxiliary is starting on July 9th and the Post is starting July 11th. Come on out and get ready to play. We have missed all of y'all's smiling faces. It will be your choice to wear a mask and/or gloves. We won't have any available for public. Social distancing has been lifted so please take all precautions to protect yourself. We hope to see y'all soon.

With Memorial Day approaching even through the tough times we are facing today, we must take the time to remember and we SHALL NEVER FORGET TO SAY THANK YOU! Have a wonderful weekend and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice even to this day so that we may remain free and unseen from all the horror happening abroad!

Unfortunately this will be the sight we will see for a few more weeks at least probably. We heard the chairs talking earlier and they said they miss all of you folks! We will keep you all posted on when things change and we can reopen fully!! Until then stay safe stay well.!

If we have any schools on here, we are sorry to inform everyone that we (the VFW) will be canceling all of our school programs we offer that require submission entries like the art program and college scholarships! It was very hard for us to make this decision but 2 major obvious reasons made us come to this final decision: 1 - equality, we cant justifiably judge and announce winners due to not all students may have had the program made available to them because schools being closed. 2 - income, we (the VFW) have no income coming in at this time because of COVID-19 and feel that we need to hold on these programs in order to keep our establishment up and running when we get the ok to open back up! The VFW apologizes for this sad news and any inconvenience this may cause!!! Someday we shall all be back to normal, God Bless!

ATTENTION: Poplar Bluff VA hospital Though none of our patients have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the safety of our patients and staff is our highest priority.... The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will move to Tier 2 of its COVID-19 response plan on Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. Here are some things you can expect: -all entrances to the main facility will be closed to the public except for the primary entrance on Westwood Blvd. -all entrants to the main facility and outpatient clinics will be screened for COVID-19 risk -Veterans will access the building through the urgent care entrance only -all non-urgent elective procedures will be postponed for 30 days -the shuttle to St. Louis will not run -our VSO offices (DAV, VFW and American Legion) will be closed until further notice -our volunteer program will be suspended -Veterans who need assistance getting to and from an appointment may bring only one caregiver to appointments -only ADA animals will be allowed on station -all food bank distributions will be postponed until further notice -the nursing home and acute care areas remain closed to visitors We appreciate your assistance and patience as we do our part to address this national crisis and protect our Veterans.

With our patrons safety in mind we are canceling bingo this Thursday 3-19 and Saturday 3-21! We hope to resume bingo on Thursday 3-26 if things look better all around.
