Lawrence met with Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency Director Kelly McKeague to hand over items from VFW members to help the Vietnamese government find the remains of their fallen troops from the Vietnam War. Lawrence was instrumental in seeking this important call-to-action from VFW members during his time as VFW Commander-in-Chief. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper will deliver several of these items to the Vietnamese government next month as a show of goodwill from the United States.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Executive Director B.J. Lawrence, along with several members of the Washington Office, visited the National Museum of the United States Army Thursday at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Lawrence received a special tour of the 185,000 square-foot facility and was thoroughly impressed with the amazing educational experiences illustrating the Army’s role in building and defending our nation, humanitarian missions and technological and medical breakthroughs built on Army ingenuity. The VFW was a major contributor of the new museum, which is scheduled to host its grand opening virtually on Veterans Day.
