Veterans Community Project 14.11.2020

Thanks, Richard Fergola and KC Grilling Company, for giving our Veterans some extra love today. U.S. Army Veteran Matthew Burasco Burriesci received a one year membership to the KC BBQ Society. I bet we know what his secret sauce will be. #bravobravoque

This Veterans Day, we leave you with Chris. While every Veteran in VCP Village has a different story, one thing remains constant and true. These men and women do. not. give. up. The courage and energy they muster to fight their strongest enemy (sometimes themselves) inspires us to be better and do better every day. From all of the civilians and Veterans on staff at Veterans Community Project, thank you. Our Village is the home of heroes.

What a great day! Our mobile Stand Down teams distributed coats, boots, and cold weather gear across the city and returned just in time for the flyover and delicious Hawaiian Bros - Overland Park, KSlunch by U.S. Bank. A special thanks to our oldest and youngest donors (99 year-old WWII Marine, Max De Weese, and 7 year-old Ryann) as well. Your dedication to our mission means more than you know! The end of day surprise delivery by Tom Rosberg of Capitol Federal was literally the icing on the cake. Happy Veterans Day to all of our fellow service members, especially those in VCP Village. We are proud to be among your ranks. #salute

One of our favorite things about #VeteransDay2020 are these sweet signs from the students at The Madeleine School in Portland, Oregon. Thanks for dressing up our Village, kids! From KC with love

Thank you, Humana, for caring so deeply for those who served. Your sponsorship of The House Party ensures critical services for Veterans and your generous donation of hats and blankets brought smiles to countless Veterans during our mobile Stand Down today. #salute #veteransday2020

With all of the talk of national expansion, we are often asked if we are "done" in KC. If you know VCP, you know that our work is never done. Today Mayor Quinton Lucas stopped by to review renderings for VCP's new Veterans Navigation Campus, planned for 89th and Troost. The campus will harness the collective power of Kansas City's Veteran services community to provide targeted, comprehensive care for Veterans in one setting. By greatly reducing barriers to access, VCP strives to not only prevent Veteran homelessness but radically impact the crisis of Veteran suicide in our community. #VeteransDay2020
