Our Illinois Division’s #FoodDrive was a success! Thank you to everyone who donated #food - we collected 43 FULL grocery carts of food to be distributed to #FoodPantries in the area. And thanks to those who hosted #FoodDonation boxes: Schnucks, First National Bank of Waterloo, the Red Bud IGA and the Dairy Queen in Sparta and Coulterville. #HelpingHere #WeAreAllUnited #foodforthought #nonprofit #nonprofitleadership #community Community Link, House of Neighborly Service in Waterloo, The O'fallon Community Food Pantry, ComWell Food Pantry in Red Bud, Sparta Food Pantry #communitysupport

Sonny is 3 years old, and his family can’t always afford to buy him new books. To help children like Sonny, #UnitedWay supports Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which gifts books to children to encourage them to read. Through Imagination Library, The Chamberlin Group and their clients were able to gift Sonny his first book. Thank you, The Chamberlin Group, for helping youth in our region get access to books and grow a love of reading! #HelpingHere #fosterlearning #reading #readingtime #ImaginationLibrary #InnovativePrograms

Today, we recognize Juneteenth and our continuing journey to help unite people while dismantling systems of injustice and inequality that disproportionately affect African Americans. At United Way, racial equity remains at the forefront of our community efforts. Our goal is to mobilize the caring power of communities to advance the common good. We are committed to staying informed, seeking understanding and putting our resources into action.

Our safety net nonprofit partner Cornerstone Center for Early Learning is helping kids learn responsibility by taking care of their own plants. We love seeing how excited they are to be in their outdoor learning environment! #HelpingHere #outdoorlearning #WeAreAllUnited #United4STL #stlouis #InnovativePrograms

Hear from Dasha Kennedy, a #UnitedWay ambassador and financial activist, about her #mentee experience and how she carries that experience with her in her current work. When I was 19 years old, I worked a very low level position at a major insurance company. My desk was across from a Senior Accountant who took a liking to me and invited me to shadow her work. This began the beginning of a 10-year mentorship and friendship. As a result of her #mentorship, within 3 years I was... promoted to Senior Accountant with the opportunity to work alongside her. As a mentee, she made me feel seen and gave me space to be vulnerable as a beginner. I’ve carried that same experience with me for over a decade, and I look for ways to give rising stars in the same industry as me a chance to learn from me as often as possible. Are you looking for a #mentorship opportunity? Find one through #UnitedWay local volunteer center at stlvolunteer.org! #NationalMentoringMonth #MentoringMonth #Mentors #MentorshipMonth #MentoringMatters #mentorshipmatters #mentor

The many people who came together to volunteer with #UnitedWay and contributed to its campaign shows that our community believes in United Way’s mission and that we can have an incredible impact when we come together. Read more about how Gireesh Gupchup, auxiliary board chair for the Southwest Illinois Division of United Way of Greater St. Louis, saw our combined impact in 2020’s community campaign: https://untdwy.org/3ponhvX

Jackson and his brother, Gavin, arrived at a #UnitedWay supported nonprofit with only the clothes they wore and broken hearts. They spent much of their childhood homeless, living in tents, their family van and with other family members resulting in attending over 15 different schools. When the boys first arrived, they struggled with a lack of social skills, trust and respect for adults. Their mother was committed to recovering and getting her children back. With the #mento...rship and support of family therapy, the three began to rebuild a trusting relationship. Last year, the two brothers reunited with their mother, permanently. While leaving the local #nonprofit with her children, mom joyfully cried, Our wolfpack is finally back together again. #NationalMentoringMonth #MentoringMonth #MentorshipMatters #MentoringMatters #mentorship #mentor #mentors
