Please welcome Sarah Bradbury, John Skaggs and Eli Herren to the Fighting Mules ROTC. All three have been offered National Guard Minuteman Scholarships from the Missouri Army National Guard. All are from Smith Cotton High School and the Army JROTC program in Sedalia. They have decided to serve our state and nation by becoming officers in the Missouri Army National Guard following college. These scholarships cover 100% Tuition while the Cadets earn more than $17,000 per year in pay and other benefits. Welcome to the Fighting Mules! Today, Cadets spent their lab studying written land navigation and operation orders. They were briefed over the importance of understanding how to fully read maps, as this plays a major role in their careers. Cadets also had a thorough run-through of operations order and were then tasked with giving a briefing of their own. Congratulations to the "Talking Mules" Speech and Debate team! The 'Talking Mules' Speech & Debate Team won the Missouri Association of Forensics Activities State Championship Tournament placing 1st in the Overall Sweepstakes Category making them the State Champions. Team members claimed several individual State Championships at the tournament this past weekend, February 12-13. The team placed 1st in Individual Events Sweepstakes and 2nd in Overall Debate Sweepstakes, claimin...g 2 Debate State Championships and 7 individual State Championships along the way. The team is preparing for the National Finals Tournaments with two organizations, Pi Kappa Delta, the National Honorary Forensic Society, March 18-21, and the National Forensics Association in mid-April.
