I'd say this poor fellow had an unfortunate accident with the "family jewels". Halted testosterone production, stopped rubbing antlers in early September and as he molted the new winter cape the hair came in as soft as a does cape, no coarse hair, softest buck cape I've ever seen. And no neck swell in mid November.
