We are so grateful to be part of such a generous and caring community! We are overwhelmed by the offers to help us replace the potted plants that were stolen from our office. We have received some replacements and have some others in the works. While we do appreciate the donations of flowers, we are getting more than we can handle. If you would still like to contribute you can make a monetary donation to True North using the link below. Since we have already received replacements, the funds will be used to support the services we provide for those experiencing domestic and sexual violence in our community. We ask that if you have any information regarding the incident or the individuals involved, please continue to contact the Columbia PD. Thank you so much for your support! https://truenorthofcolumbia.z2systems.com/donation.jsp

On Saturday June 19th, around 6:15pm, a woman and a young man stole our beloved plants out of the entrance of our front office on Parkade. More than half of domestic violence and intimate partner violence cases go unreported. If you witness violence, speak up for those who cannot. #TrueNorthofColumbia #Advocacy #DVA #IPVA

If your partner, or a potential partner, may be making you uncomfortable with their compliments, comments, and/or gifts, they may be love bombing. Ultimately, discuss your feelings about these displays of affection with your partner to discern if this is an attempt to emotionally manipulate you. If not, let them know how it makes you feel and the right one will listen to your feelings and lay back. #TrueNorthofColumbia #lovebombing #advocacy #DVA #IPVA

True North could not continue to provide much needed services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence without the support of caring individuals in our community. Thank you to Columbia GFWC Tuesday Club for all of your generosity and support through the years. #weareblessed #grateful #stopdv #stopsa #truenorthofcolumbia

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and we're here to break the cycle. A few ways you can help: educate children and teens on violent and unhealthy behavior, talk to your child before they start to date, remind your teens of the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE, learn about digital abuse and the influence of technology on teen dating violence, finally, believe your teen if they come to you reporting an incident. #TeenDatingViolenceAwareness #TrueNorthofColumbia #advocate #datingviolenceawareness

With the ongoing pandemic, you may believe stalking is decreasing due to increased time indoors. However, stalking can thrive in environments such as these, due to the growing use of social media. Be aware of these signs and take steps to decrease your ability to be stalked. These steps include: Do not put your location on posts. Keep your profiles private. Don't overshare. Block a user if you're suspicious that they may be stalking you. As always, if you are being stalked, contact True North -- free and confidentially. #StalkingAwarenessMonth #TrueNorthofColumbia #advocate

Relationship and gender violence cannot end until we can come together, in a unified voice, sharing in the message that love is respect. We must be accountable (specifically men) for how we dehumanize others with everyday actions and words. Thank you Rebecca Smith and KBIA 91.3 FM for providing the space for us to share such an important message.
