Claude T. Tom Phillips, age 69 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home. Born December 23, 1951 in Adair County, Missouri, the son of Claude and Mary Elizabeth (Farmer) Phillips. On February 17, 1990 in Novelty, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Candy Murray who preceded him in death on May 18, 2017. Also preceding him in death were his parents and father-in-law, Jim Murray.... Surviving are his mother-in-law, Doris Elaine Murray of Novelty, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Carla) Murray of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Matt (Lori) Murray of Novelty, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Dianna (Willard) Otto of Leonard, Missouri; six nieces and nephews, Tyler (Shannon), Nolan, and Whitney Otto, Ben and Jonathan Murray, and Alaina (Chris) Niedbalski; cousins and a host of friends. Tom was a 1969 graduate of La Plata High School. He was the La Plata Golf Course superintendent for many years, and owned and operated the Shady Rest Sports Shop in La Plata. Tom currently owned and operated Phillips Aerating and Consulting and La Plata Golf Shop. He was a loyal supporter of many area-sporting events. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer Mac McCully. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, west of Novelty, Missouri. Visitation will be Sunday, June 6, 2021 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cheryl Lynn Bradley Cheryl Lynn Bradley, age 56, of Atlanta, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021. Born July 23, 1964, in Kirksville, Cheryl was the youngest daughter of P. J. and Virginia (Robinson) Simpson. A 1982 graduate of Chillicothe High School and a 1988 graduate of the University of Missouri, Cheryl made close friends in school that lasted her entire lifetime. A pop culture lover, Cheryl was an avid reader of more than 15,000 books ranging from romance to sc...ience fiction as well as biographies, mysteries, comics, cookbooks, and Stephen King. She enjoyed iconic films featuring Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, and Judy Garland, as well as classic TV shows ranging from Star Trek to All My Children. Musically, she loved the Beatles and knew most songs from the 60s, 70s, and 80’s, attending concerts that included Shaun Cassidy, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, and Paul McCartney. A legendary scrapbooker, she personally met the Bay City Rollers and shared her collection of fan memorabilia. Cheryl knew her way around the kitchen, delighting family and friends with her specialties that included Irish soda bread, beef stroganoff, spaghetti, and homemade lasagna. Cheryl often said that her greatest accomplishment was her son David Partlow of Fargo, North Dakota. She said the best decision she ever made was marrying the love of her life, husband Bryan Bradley on March 20, 2002. Cheryl is survived by husband Bryan, son David, mother Virginia, and sister Cathy. Surviving are five children, Jill (Randy) Coker, Susan (Frank) Ruzek, Gina (Michael) Lorang, Amy Van Keuren, and Eric (Misa) Van Keuren; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy Coker, Jonathan Coker, Bradley Ruzek, Candace Ruzek, Stephanie (Ruzek) Aube, Tyler Janesek, Peter Lorang, Brandon Janesek, Kate Lor...ang, Lara Van Keuren, and Mina Van Keuren; seven great grandchildren, Caleb Aube, Chloe Aube, Carter Aube, Kieran Coker, Tegan Coker, Koen Coker, and Morgan Coker; one sister, Janice (Ronnie) Benson; and many nieces and nephews. Neil Linder, age 84 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Born March 28, 1937 near Novinger, Missouri, the son of Russell and Lura (Schillie) Linder. On August 30, 1973 in La Plata, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Merlene Plumlee who survives. Also surviving are six children, Alan (Brenda) Linder of Green Castle, Missouri, Sherri (Dan Welby) Lindquist of St. Louis, Missouri, Jeanna (Steve) Delgado of Te...mpe, Arizona, Karen (Travis) Gilmore, Kendall (Brenda) Williams of La Plata, and Koni (Carl) Hagar, all of La Plata, Missouri; two sisters, Margie Daniels of Novinger, Missouri and Carol (Kenneth) Roberts of Macon, Missouri; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. His parents and brother-in-law, Spike Daniels preceded him in death. Neil was a 1955 graduate of Novinger High School. He worked in construction all of his life. Sports were a big part of Neil’s life. He started playing fast pitch softball in high school and continued playing for more than twenty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and hunting for artifacts on Hog Creek. Neil was a member of the La Plata Christian Church. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the La Plata Christian Church in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Marvin D. Young, age 86 of Atlanta, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab in Moberly, Missouri. Born January 2, 1934 in Sorento, Illinois, the son of Robert Henry and Geraldine (Waters) Young. On July 12, 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Swind who preceded him in death on September 24, 2015. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Melvin Young; and one sister, Melvia Lowe.... Surviving are two sons, John (Fawn) Young of Macon, Missouri and Duane Young of Atlanta, Missouri; five daughters, Denna Lupold, Gerry Young, Kathy Grigis, Sandy Young, and Teresa Pouvi; one brother, Mervin Young of Arizona; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Marvin moved to Atlanta from the Quad Cities area in 1985. He enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. It was Marvin’s wishes to be cremated and no public services to be held.

Evelyn Lucille Falls, age 89 of La Plata, Missouri, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at her home. Born November 17, 1931 on the family farm 5 miles south of New Boston, Missouri, the daughter of Hjalmar and Inez (Thiele) Lindberg. On January 22, 1967 in Gifford, Missouri she was united in marriage to Weldon Falls who preceded her in death on January 30, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one infant stillborn son, Rickey Dale...; three brothers, Cecil, Virgil, and H.A. Lindberg; four sisters, Ruby Brown, Alice Belfield, Esther Francisco, and Eva Mae Switzer. Surviving are two sons, Jack (Vicki) Falls of La Plata, Missouri and Kenny (Traci) Falls of Four Seasons, Missouri; one sister, Pearl Miller of Saint Catharine, Missouri; four grandchildren, Nick Falls, Heather (Adam) Mulligan, Erica (Aaron) Baker, and Kennett Falls; and six great grandchildren, Bella, Brody, Brynlee, and Bright Baker, Hailey and Grace Mulligan. Evelyn attended Warner Rural School and Bucklin High School before graduating from Kirksville High School in 1949. She attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and began teaching at Prairie View Rural School in Adair County. She served on the La Plata Rural Rental Housing Board; Director of La Plata Christian Ministry Clothing Store; was a charter member of Friends for La Plata Preservation; and member of La Plata Baptist Church. She was most proud of her recognition for the thousands of hours of volunteer work for Heartland Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Evelyn enjoyed baking, gardening, and doing for others. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Private family funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the La Plata Baptist Church. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Visitation will be a drive by at the church. The procession will start at Travis Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Larry Lyle Leibundguth, age 71 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at his home. Born November 18, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Fred, Jr. and Bernice (Butler) Leibundguth. His parents preceded him in death.... Surviving are many friends. Larry was a 1967 graduate of Knox County High School. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He worked on his family farm and was well known as a driver for the Amish Community. Larry was a member of the La Plata America Legion and the First Liberty Full Gospel Church in Kirksville, Missouri. Kenneth W. Wright, age 79 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Mexico, Missouri. Born December 21, 1940 in Callao, Missouri, the son of Woodrow and Lyvola Nadine (Burke) Wright. On January 14, 1978 in La Plata, Missouri he was united in marriage to Tamera Wood who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Kim (Scott) Jenkins of Trophy Club, Texas, Kourtenay Householter (Harold Huss) of Nashville, Kansas, and Nickie (Davi...d) Bingham of La Plata, Missouri; four sisters, Kathryn (Jack) VanLue of Buchanan, Michigan, Lyvola Hogsett of Macon, Missouri, Shelly Smith and Becky Clark both of Higbee, Missouri; five grandchildren, Raleigh Myers, Remi Jenkins, Brittaney Morehead, Bryce and Brianna Bingham; three great grandchildren, Kinzlee and Kamie Morehead, and Bentley Bingham; and several nieces and nephews. His parents and three brothers, Lloyd, Floyd, and Bob Wright preceded him in death. Kenneth was a graduate of Callao High School. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids. On October 8, 1977 in Hagers Grove, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Penny Presson who survives. Robert Bob M. Rogers, age 65 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Born May 13, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Leon and Merlene (Deacon) Rogers. On June 15, 1996 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Deborah Long who survives. George W. Cribb, age 90 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. Born July 23, 1929 in La Plata, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Grace (Nihiser) Cribb. On September 10, 1952 in Reading, Massachusetts, he was united in marriage to Joanne Jo Lane who survives. Also surviving are one son, Carl Cribb and wife Ellen Marie of Prescott Valley, Arizona; three daughters, Kathryn Butler and husband Joh...n of DeKalb, Illinois, Jean Cribb of Columbia, Missouri, and Sandy Carpenter of Quincy, Illinois; one sister, Phyllis Birkinshaw of La Plata, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents, three sisters, Arlene, Eva, and Dorothy, and one brother, Lloyd, and one granddaughter, Crystal Canfield preceded him in death. George was a 1948 graduate of La Plata High School. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp on August 10, 1948 and was honorable discharged on July 18, 1952. He graduated from Coyne Electric School in Chicago, Illinois in September of 1954. George was employed by Gates Radio in Quincy, Illinois for 20 years. He later owned and operated Cribb Grocery and Service in Durham, Missouri until retirement in December 1993. In retirement, George enjoyed driving cars for several local dealers. He enjoyed his yard work and planting trees on different properties. George was known to be able to fix almost everything. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kirksville, Missouri. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the La Plata Cemetery in La Plata, Missouri.
