Here’s our newsletter from HUD celebrating our successful 6th Annual Job Fair of Oct 15, 2020.

We wish our SWD Executive Director York Wilson, Business Executive Alfred M. Winder and Executive VP Anjou Durga Giri A Very Happy Birthday!

Our first virtual job fair was a huge success. We had 700 people come through our host site Envision Center KCMO and Strategic Workforce Development Inc aka SWD’s website altogether. We had about 60 open job positions to fill. Now to celebrate and wait to have an even bigger successful job fair next year. Here’s to our team William Wells, York Wilson Alfred Winder, Alphonso McAlester (team SWD) Brandon Ellington and all our employers and allied trade unions and Anjou Durga Giri apparently the only woman in this macho list. A big thanks to community partners Catholic Charities and Kansas City Public Libraries.

Voices of the non profit communities trying to be heard in the City Hall today. Councilman Brandon Ellington ‘s ordinance # 200239 should be heard and supported in the council chambers. Mr Mayor Quinton Lucas and city council members please do the right thing. Organizations who came there to lend voice to Councilman Ellington’s ordinance, gave their reasons and a long list of ‘work they do in our city and communities’. They all merit ‘plenty funding and support’.

The SWD team visit to an employers’ construction site today. This way we get to totally understand the work ambience, job required and professionalism.
