Just wanted Tracy residents to know that fireworks are allowed July 1st thru July 5th. Please pay special attention to section 5D for times. Allowable fireworks are listed in the ordinance below. Have a happy and safe 4th!!

Businesses in Tracy were contacted yesterday and asked to be aware of suspicious activity. Information received that some could be targets was passed on, specifically to those businesses. However, unsavory individuals will prey where they can get in and out quickly. Unlocked cars and opened garages are EASY targets. Please remove valuables from your vehicles and lock them. Close garage doors and lock residential doors! This does deter the bad guy! And please call 911 if you see something suspicious. I know our residents have questions and have made comments in regard to the incidents that have occurred over the last month and a half. I can assure you that the Chief and myself have worked to find the person prowling the backyards in Tracy. After the events last week we know a juvenile was involved in all of our calls for service. After each incident the juvenile officer on call was contacted and we were given the same response each time. There is no place for him to go. R...elease to his parents. I can assure you we are as frustrated as you, our residents are. There is no prosecutor to call as the prosecutor had nothing to do with the outcome. Each incident we have responded to gets delivered to the juvenile office. And because we are dealing with a juvenile, we have to be extremely careful what is said. If you want to see change, I would reach out to your local state representatives and see if they will work to get the juvenile laws changed. I feel we did what we should have done and like each of you would have liked to see a different outcome but we can only do what the law allows us to do.
