Pending Home Sales, which measures signed contracts on existing homes, fell 1.2% in March. There is no doubt that higher interest rates could be impacting demand, but this is still very strong considering the increases in prices and lack of inventory. The media said that this was a wash out, but it was only down 1.2%, in the face of all of these challenges, and better than expected. A longer time frame view of signed contracts shows that the level of sales is still at a strong level, but off the crazy highs we set after the dip in covid and rush to purchase. The market is correcting and this is a healthy trend.
