The executive order requiring masks allows hair salons to stay open, while also providing protection for clients and staff from contracting the virus. You may remember the case of the two hair stylists in Springfield who both tested positive for COVID-19 and saw 139 clients between them while infectious this Spring. Contact tracing later revealed that none of their customers tested positive for the infection, due to the fact that the salon required clients and stylists to wear masks, as well as spaced appointments and upped their disinfection practices. This case proves just how effective it can be if everyone is wearing a mask. Coronavirus is spread mainly when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. A mask is helpful because even if an asymptomatic infected person coughs or sneezes, the mask will prevent those droplets from reaching another person.
