Hey beautiful people, don’t forget about the chilli potluck this Sunday! Please bring some chili and/or some sides. Side options include for example crackers, shredded cheese, chips, etc. In the comments please put what you will bring, let’s make the most of this day loves. We will head to Cafe’ Shaw immediately after service.
Yesterday was the second-to-last Yoga Faith StL class at TWAS. There was a thick fog as I drove into my beautiful city. The limited visibility slowed me down, caused me to look carefully ahead as I moved forward. I was unsure what I might encounter just beyond where I could see. A journey of vigilance, faith and prayer.... This is where we are today as The Word At Shaw church family. Our visibility is limited to each present moment. We are moving through the fog of not knowing what’s next. And so we should take in every present moment. Worship right now. Don’t check out in order to avoid pain. In so doing, we would miss the beauty of being with God together. Slow down, rather than avoiding or rushing through our last two weekends. We can and should take it all in, together. We should Worship with all we have. Full on Jesus-Rave; Out loud Hallelujahs, dancing like David, before are King, greeting all with Christ-like love and a hug. Embracing God’s Word as brought to us through Pastor Vance and Pastor Keith. If you are truly unable to be at Service, know that we miss your presence. Be with us through your prayers. After our last Service on November fourth, we should look carefully ahead, as we move forward. We should praise God in faith for all He will be doing in our lives in each future moment. This is an opportunity to trust God, live out our Faith in believing God’s promises. He is a good, good Father. He knows the plans He has for us, and for the beautiful Shaw community in the city we love. We will be unsure of what we may encounter, but we go with God, and He will hold us when we cannot move on our own strength. We will continue on our journeys of vigilance, faith and prayer. I love you all. -Lorilise Scarborough Child of God, wife of PK
Dear Friends, I deeply regret to inform you that we will be closing The Word at Shaw. Our final service will be on Sunday, November 4, 2018. As you know we have had many difficulties in meeting our financial obligations over the past few years. This has caused us to reduce staff, cut corners and do everything we could to continue forward, but we are still unable to sustain ourselves and can no longer carry this debt.... Over the past eight years The Word at Shaw has been a beacon of what God can do when God’s people unite as one. Together we have fought division and homelessness, helped raise the level of unity in our neighborhood and city, worked alongside community leaders and school officials and had a front row seat to lives being transformed through the power of Christ. From the very beginning I have said that the church of Jesus is not a building, or a location it is a movement of the Holy Spirit and this movement cannot be quenched. WE are the church and my prayer is that what you have learned, gained, and practiced in our time together will continue to impact the world around you. Of course there are many loose ends to be tied up, and many discussions to be had in order to be good stewards of what God has done in and through us. These will take place in the near future. Please be in prayer for us as we seek God’s face and learn what God has for us at this time. Blessings, Pastor Keith
