Check it! This was one of the biggest inspirations for Sit. Meditation has had a profound impact on my life but I never felt like personal testimony was strong enough to persuade other skeptics to give it a shot. Hell, it took a traumatic personal experience for me to try it. If I hadn’t had that experience, who knows... I’d likely still be on the sidelines with the rest of the skeptics....unless I stumbled across this book!!... With stacks of research continuing to pile up at an exponential rate, it’s hard to deny that mindfulness practices can greatly improve anyone’s life. This book does a great job of presenting the good science and scrapping the click-bait BS. If there’s somebody in your life you care about that’s having a hard time but won’t consider meditation, the info in this book might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Got the winter blues?? Come Sit! Sit STL is officially (kinda) back to business. Drop-in classes are still unavailable, but we’ve come up with a unique private program offering single, 4-class, and 8-class packs. Basically you’ll be reserving the class for you and up to 4 other friends to come in for group meditation & sound experience. Ultimately we hope this will help reduce exposure risk without getting rid of the group-meditation experience altogether. Plus, having your f...riends there will make it way more fun (and affordable!...had to jack up the price due to smaller class size and extra time spent sanitizing before & after each class) Looking forward to getting some groups going! Hey folks, I’ve uploaded a Sit session to the website! (Link in bio) I figured this is the best way to do it so you can access it anytime you want. There’s no sense in doing this over zoom or Skype since our eyes are closed the whole time anyway! Plus I was able to edit the audio and improve the quality of the bowls a bit (it’s still nowhere near as awesome as it is in person, but it’s still fun)... Pretty much an intro session. A bit of breath counting. A little bit more talking in the beginning to introduce a couple concepts that first time sitters need to be familiar with. The sound is fun, but it’s definitely different compared to what you’re used to in class. Although I did add a little synth and some nature samples in there because why not?!? This was my first time recording a Sit session and it was really fun but also very weird. It felt like a totally different experience talking into a computer instead of guiding an actual person. Maybe I should draw a face on my microphone? Jk I’m sure they will get better with time :) I’ll try to add some more as time goes on. TRIANGLE BREATH: ~ Can do this as a 5-10 minute stand alone exercise to relax a bit, or you can start of your normal practice with a few rounds. This is a GREAT reset when you need it. A great way to chill out when you’re overwhelmed. ~ Step 1: Using the diaphragm, inhale deeply for 4 counts... Step 2: Hold the breath for 7 counts (you don’t need to turn blue in the face like my man Hank here) Step 3: Exhale slowly & gently for 8 counts *Note: you can count in your head at a consistent tempo or download a metronome app and set it to an exact tempo. I wouldn’t go any lower than 45 bpm.* ~ If anyone could use a little triangle breath, it’s Mr. Hank Hill....Damnit Bobby! ~ PS: I’m grabbing the singing bowls from the studio today to start experimenting with streaming a Sit session. The concern is the sound from the bowls being too abrasive. They’re LOUD. Might have to pre-record with some plugins to chill it out a bit.
