Read Me As many of you may know, the Federal Reserve has slashed their interest rates to zero prior to their meeting this coming week. We have received many questions from past and current clients due to the fact that the media does not do a great job at explaining exactly what this means. This does NOT mean fixed mortgage interest rates are 0%. Fixed mortgage interest rates are in the 3s for the time being. However, this will affect ARMs, helocs, and credit card interest... rates. The Federal Reserve is doing this to begin the qualitative easing process where central banks buy predetermined bonds or other financial assets to add money directly into the economy. The last time qualitative easing was utilized was in late 2008. The covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the US economy. Lowering interest rates to zero will hopefully help stabilize the economy. Please share this with anyone wanting to refinance or purchase a home. I hope this clears up the the confusion!
