The Drug Store 18.12.2020

St. Patrick’s Day Grand Marshals by Mike Hanrahan Steve and Clydean Erickson of Cameron have been selected as this year’s Grand Marshals for the annual St. Patr...ick’s Day Parade. The parade will be on Saturday, March 16 this year as the official holiday falls on a Sunday. The parade is sponsored annually by the Knights of Columbus, Council 1110. A major factor in selecting a Grand Marshall is the honoree’s involvement and contribution to the Cameron community. Since moving to Cameron in 1977 (Steve took over The Drug Store in 1976), both Steve and Clydean have been very involved in the community. They have been active in many organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life in Cameron and have touched many lives in the process. Steve has operated The Drug Store for 42 years and has been the Director of the Pharmacy at the Cameron Regional Medical Center for nearly 37 years. He has served on many local and State boards. Steve commented that he is hugely honored to be selected along with his wife as co-Grand Marshals for this year’s event. Clydean has worked as a nurse, worked in the Cameron School system, and has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1994. She too has been active in a variety of local projects and contributed much time making Cameron a pleasant place to live. She takes a sincere interest in her patients and always has their interests at heart. She and Steve are people totally devoted to, and involved with, their extended family. Steve and Clydean both come from small-town farming backgrounds which has led both of them in operating a cattle farm at their rural Cameron address. The Knights of Columbus feel that both individuals deserve recognition for their service to the community and are honored that they have agreed to serve in that capacity this year. They love the Cameron community and have encouraged many friends and family to relocate here. The annual parade and celebration will begin promptly at 4:03 (as it does every year) on the north side of McCorkle Park, and ends on the south side of the park. There will be a brief ceremony at Cameron’s Blarney Stone located on the west side of McCorkle Park where the co-Grand Marshals will share a few words with the crowd. Prior to the parade, and beginning at 11:30, there will be an Irish luncheon served at St. Rita’s School, just west of St. Munchins Catholic Church. All are welcome. Everyone is Irish that day!
