I am now accepting both in-office and contactless appointments, whichever you prefer. I will be working on tax returns through the new extended deadline of July 15th, but am available by appointment only. As a reminder, you can get the status of your stimulus payment on the www.irs.gov website. I do not have access to any specific information, unfortunately. Have your 2018 and 2019 tax return information available to verify your identity before logging on. Please call 8...16-366-0463 if you would like to set up an appointment. Thank you! Kendra

If you FILED a 2018 or 2019 return and need to update your bank information (filed and had a federal balance due, no balance due/no refund, elected to receive a check, or your bank account has changed), you will need to utilize the following link to update your information. Have a copy of your tax return available to verify your identity, as well as your new bank info. You can also update your address if you've moved and don't want to update with new banking information. If you don't update your information, you will still get your Economic Impact Payment, but it will be sent by check to the address on file and will take awhile longer.

As many of you know, today should have been the end of the 'normal' tax filing season for 2019. Federal, Missouri and Kansas return filing and payment deadlines have been extended to July 15th, as well as 1st and 2nd Quarter estimated payments and retirement contributions. With that being said, I will be out of the office for the next ten days, returning with abbreviated hours on April 27th, by appointment only. I will be processing tax returns as possible and responding ...to emails of an urgent nature. Please feel free to drop your tax return documents in the mail slot in the front door of my office or scan/email/fax them to me. All contact information is available on your tax envelope or via my website, www.thecasualbookkeeper.com. Unless there is a valid urgency for filing, the returns may not be ready to pick up until I return on April 27th. As much as I would like to, I simply cannot respond to all phone calls or emails about the stimulus checks, PPP Loans, SBA Loans or Unemployment. I have posted information on this page as the IRS has made it available. Please read through the information I have provided. As I wrap up my 11th tax season (well tax season, version 1) as The Casual Bookkeeper, I am humbled at how many of you choose me to put your trust in to prepare your returns and am extremely appreciative of your business. I am simply tired and need a bit of time to recharge, regroup and prepare for another three months of tax season. I appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to take care of your tax preparation/planning needs soon. Thank you all for your understanding and I hope to see you all soon!!! -Kendra

IRS issues warning about Coronavirus-related scams; watch out for schemes tied to economic impact payments WASHINGTON The Internal Revenue Service today urged taxpayers to be on the lookout for a surge of calls and email phishing attempts about the Coronavirus, or COVID-19. These contacts can lead to tax-related fraud and identity theft. "We urge people to take extra care during this period. The IRS isn't going to call you asking to verify or provide your financial informat...Continue reading

Another question I am getting is if you have to do anything to get your stimulus. If you filed 2018 or 2019 taxes, you don't have to do anything.Another question I am getting is if you have to do anything to get your stimulus. If you filed 2018 or 2019 taxes, you don't have to do anything.

If anyone in the Greenwood area typically does not have to file a tax return in a normal year (retirees with Social Security benefits, small retirement funds, etc.), please let them know they can contact me to get their taxes filed at no charge. I am not trying to increase my billable time, but I am greatly concerned that some of our lower income residents may not get their stimulus payment on time because of the confusion from the IRS on how they will evaluate those taxpayers. Please have them call my office at 816-366-0463. Again, there is no charge for those individuals who are filing solely to give the IRS their income information to receive the stimulus payment.

I just wanted to let all of my clients know that I am still processing returns and am working diligently to prioritize everyone right now. With the filing extensions, stimulus payments, CARES Act and Unemployment benefit expansion, I am working to digest all of the new information and having to give priority to a lot of different areas right now. If you are ready to file, please drop your documents off in the mail slot of my door, but allow some extra time for me to get eve...rything ready to file. I completely understand everyone's concern and I am paying special attention to those that need to get filed with regard to the stimulus payment, taking care of Senior Citizens who would not ordinarily need to file, but filing right now ensures they will get their stimulus payment in a timely manner and working with small business clients who are needing to file for emergency SBA funding to keep their doors open. Please know that I value each and every one of you and am doing my best to get everyone taken care of, but it is difficult to keep up with everything because everything is equal priority. I am working from both the office and my home, so if you drive by and don't see my car there, please know there are no days off right now, I am just trying to stay on top of everything and not go crazy in the office by myself :) I have always appreciated all of you for choosing me to take care of your tax needs and am blessed that you put your trust in me each year. My effort and dedication this year is not any different, it is just being pulled in so many different directions, I am readjusting procedures as needed. Best of health to you all! Stay home, stay safe and I hope to see all of you soon!
