I wanted to reach out today to try and clarify where Grain Valley is on the Stay at Home issue. With Grain Valley being in Jackson County we have to follow the... county's order. I know that seems a bit strange that the county would override the Govenor, but that is the case in Missouri. Along with that the City of Grain Valley has to abide by the county order and can't opt out or make our own. Right now the county's order has us at Stay at Home till May 15th. We have weekly calls with the county and if that changes we will let you know. I want to see us get all of our businesses opened as soon as we can. The key to all of this is to make sure we keep following the social distancing guidelines after things open back up. That means things are going to look a lot different for a bit. Restaurants will only have a portion of their tables open. Salons will only be able to see a few clients at a time. I know it isn't ideal, but the reports I have received have said we could be forced into shutdown 3 to 4 more times in the next 24 months if we aren't careful. That is a position we don't want to be in. Stay Safe Grain Valley and I'll update you if we start to hear more about the Stay at Home date.

Hey community members! At this time we have had to make the tough decision to postpone this event. Current CDC guidelines suggest that gatherings be limited to ...10 people or less, and that we all practice social distancing by staying several feet apart. All things we would have a difficult time controlling at this event. Most insurance companies are refusing to cover events that are held against CDC guidelines if there is an injury that results from being there. I know this is disappointing and I wish it were different.. nobody wants to disappoint children- especially during this already tough and confusing time for them. I hope everyone understands that we aren't just doing this for our safety, but the decision was made taking many factors into consideration- your families health and wellness being first and foremost. We will keep you all informed if anything changes, but for now the plan is to postpone this event for a later date- even if it's after Easter. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to a committee member. Thank you all for your understanding!!
