The Virus 04.12.2020

It's hard for me to fathom what's happening in St. Louis right now. I just heard a man speaking in protest of how the media is covering the death of Mike Brown, and I agree with him on that. But he also compared it to loosing Robin Williams, and that Robin's death is taking away from Mike's. What's really taking away from the death of Mike Brown is the looting and rioting in a suburb of "One of the top 100 most dangerous cities in America". According to neighborhoodscout....com St. Louis rank's in the top 12 most dangerous cities in America 3 years in a row. Violence begets violence. Blatently disregaurding an officer in no way makes the officer believe that you are a peaceful protester. After a "peaceful protest" erupts in rioting and looting, law enforcement is and will be on hight alert. Did they show up to a peaceful protest with riot gear. Yes. I'll give you that fact, however remember when I mentioned earlier that St. Louis is "One of the top 100 most dangerous cities in America", they showed up in force to protect a county from exactly what happened. And "Anonymous" isn't makeing things any better. By trying to force the municipality to release the officers name and having to move resources to protect confidential police information from hackers they are just delaying the investigation, and enrageing people that are already frusterated to begin with. Along with that, the rioting and looting isn't going to help bring justice either, it's just going to delay the investigation that much more. I watched a video of a gentleman, Johnathan Gentry, who was outraged by the rioting, saying "Change is not going to come until we change it." And he's absolutely correct. There is an unfortunate stigma surrounding the black community, and when you play into the stigma by rioting, looting, speaking out about racisism while using the word "nigga", you are demeaning your own race. You are solidifying the stigma, and keeping racism alive. Our society as a whole breeds racisim into our children when we snatch the hand of our child away from a child of another race that wants to play. Our children hear what we are saying, and right now they are hearing "Fuck the police." They're hearing "The white man doesn't hear us.", "The white man doesn't listen.", "Those black people need to settle down.", "Those blacks are ignorant." All if this is seeding in our future generations heads. This is why racism still exists. So let's change. All of us. See more
