Attention residents: The North side power grid is down. There are three fuses blown and we are waiting for West Plains to travel down and assist with the issue. The City will update this post as soon as we get further information.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST MONDAY... ... * WHAT, For the Wind Chill Warning, dangerously cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 25 below zero. For the Winter Weather Advisory, additional snow accumulations of 3 to 4 inches are expected west of Missouri Highway 5. 4 to 6 inches are expected east of Missouri Highway 5. * WHERE, Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central, south central, southwest and west central Missouri. * WHEN, For the Wind Chill Warning, until 9 AM CST Tuesday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 6 PM CST Monday. * IMPACTS, Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid outside activities if possible. Snow with general amounts of 3 to 5 inches Sunday and Monday.... * WHERE...Southeast Kansas into southwest, south central and central Missouri. * WHEN...The wind chill advisory will be in effect through Monday night. The snow advisory will be starting at 6 am Sunday and end 6 pm Monday. * IMPACTS...Unseasonably cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Elevated areas on the Ozark Plateau will have the best chances at receiving accumulations up to two inches.... * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Some roadways could become slick. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute over areas where roadways become slick. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING... * WHAT, For the Winter Weather Advisory, freezing drizzle and brief periods of snow expected. Total ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of one tenth to three tenths of an inch possible. * WHERE, Howell, Shannon and Oregon Counties.... * WHEN, For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 6 AM CST Tuesday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from late Tuesday night through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS, Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages. Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
Residents on Barton Hill and residents on the southern side of the city are going to lose power at 8:15 PM. A line has went down and power has to be shut down to repair it. It will take at least an hour to repair the line.

Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with localized heavier amounts up to around 4 inches possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. * WHERE, Texas, Dent, Howell, Shannon and Oregon Counties.... * WHEN, From 9 AM this morning to midnight CST tonight. * IMPACTS, Air temperatures near or just above freezing should help limit the overall widespread impacts on roads. Some slushy accumulation will still occur especially on bridges and overpasses, where persistent heavier snowfall rates can occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS, The air temperature in higher terrain of the southern Missouri Ozarks may be slightly colder allowing somewhat higher snow amounts to occur. There will be a sharp cut off in snow amounts north of this band of snow for locations north of Interstate 44. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
Roadways are starting to deteriorate quickly around the area. Avoid travel if at all possible.
