Six years, I took over Waldo Tanner’s not knowing much about it. What I found out was Tanner’s wasn’t just a bar. It was neighborhood meeting place. It was a place to go after work to see hour friends and not having to call them because you knew they would be there. It was a place where you could send your kids up alone and know that they would be taken care of. It was a place that you enjoyed working at because the staff was like family. It was a place that you didn’t ...really care how you dressed or how the people who came in dressed. People didn’t judge you! It was a place that new employees could feel comfortable or employees who have been there for 14-18 years made you feel comfortable. I celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, deaths, births, and just about every life event that you can imagine. I have sent friends to war, welcomed back vets and thanked them for their service. I celebrated in the streets with a city and in the best neighborhood of that city as Everyone came together as one. I have shed tears with you, hugged you, cried with you, high fived you. I have thrown you out just to welcome you back in the next day. I protected you, some from themselves, lol. I improved what I could, listened, I spoke! I decorated for New Year’s Eve, Halloween, st Patrick’s day, Christmas or just for nothing at all. We had many hurdles including, fires, power outages, ac outages, new ac, plumbing issues, new plumbing, tv issues new TVs, new windows, new coolers, new kitchen equipment. We have had old customers who remembered the drug store and the floor that is still there. We have had many more than we can count, old customers who you could tell haven’t been in, in a while by, I thought the restrooms were over here? I have had the St Elizabeth parents, teachers and students come in like a revolving door! I dressed up for Halloween every year! You guys would buy me a couple of shots now and then and I would have to return the favor! I saw the sun eclipse. I ate the best pizza in town from right next door at Waldo pizza! I had the boys at Johnny Kaws have my back when questionable people left their place heading to ours. I had The Well staff come over and celebrate their night. I had the boys and girls from Hoopers come in like family. I had Becky and Bobby from Bobby bakers do nothing but good things for me. I had a tab at Eustons hardware. I had customers pick me up on warnall from a flat tire. I could go on and on. But the best part of Tanner’s Waldo is that I am proud to say that I can change all the I’s in my words from above and exchange them for We. Because I came in this neighborhood not knowing most of you! However every one of you made me feel like family! For this I thank you! Well, we have some news: After 27 wonderful years serving the Waldo area, we have decided that this weekend will be our last. It has been our pleasure to have been here and we thank all of you that have made this possible for all of these years! ...
