I know it has been a while since I have posted and I promised y’all to post some pictures. We have been working on getting the farm ready for winter. We have hard freezes here in the Midwest and water freezing is a recipe for disaster. Our wood burning stove in the chicken barn didn’t hold up as well as we had hoped, so we are working on swapping the stove with a oil burning furnace.... http://sweetvistafarms.org/2020/12/05/getting-winter-ready/
Hello my beautiful people! I know it has been a while but it is close to fall time now and that means it’s a busy time. Please bear with me as I have a lot of messages to respond to this time of year, along with running a farm and my family. If you are on my hatching egg list, I will be in contact when I have your eggs ready. My birds have been on a little break here so things are running slowly. I am not adding names to my hatching egg waitlist at this time, so that I c...an catch up on orders and not run any farther behind. As much as y’all hate waiting, I hate keeping you waiting! Thanks everyone for following and I will try my best to catch up on things here, so that I can get back to posting cute chicken pictures for y’all
It’s been a crazy 2020! I know this year especially has made me grateful for my animals and farm life. Our kids camps have been cancelled, sports, family vacations etc.. BUT the good news is fall is coming and fall means CHICKS!!! As of now I am accepting deposits for 2020 fall chicks. This will include a fun, surprise assorted box of at least 10 chicks, plus any extras that I may include for their safety in travel. We have babies popping up everywhere now http://sweetvistafarms.org/2020/06/30/babies/
I had some very persistent broodies so I caved and let them hatch. Please excuse the frizzled mama, shes molting and pretty bald.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! You guys ROCK!!!
Pictures shared from a buyer that hatched some of our shipped eggs. Have I told y’all how much I LOVE when you share pictures with me?! It’s really the best part about sharing hatching eggs. These are mottled and chocolate projects, which is why the light skin and beaks. Super cute! She did a great job.
These two pretty buff hens are looking for a new home. These are my personal breeders. Sadly I will not be raising buff, for a while anyway. These are the only two buffs that I will have to go and the only hens that will go without a cock. One is a frizzled silkie and the other frizzled satin. No noticeable flaws. I am thinning down pens so that I can better my focus on breeding the varieties that excite me most. This will be a one time opportunity to acquire some of my personal breeders that would not have been offered in the past. It is too hot here to ship so they will be local pickup only! Please understand that I receive a lot of messages, so I ask that you do not message me about these birds if you are too far to pickup. Couple cuties on the way to their new home today! http://sweetvistafarms.org//couple-cuties-on-the-way-to-t/
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms of little (and big) people. Also to all the chicken moms out there! I plan to spend the day with family and will get back to answering messages and chatting with you beautiful peeps tomorrow. I hope y’all have a great day and are able to do at least one thing for yourself today.
Our little Easter hatch, pulled fresh from the hatcher today! The little pink skin and beak ones are some of our project babies. Can’t think of anything better than that sound.
Although the situation with Covid-19 is not yet behind us, I have been closely following shipments over the past few weeks and have decided that as of next week, I will be shipping birds again. I regularly order online myself and deliveries have been back to normal, and even running ahead of schedule. I have not experienced any USPS delays, so I will begin shipping live birds on Mondays and Tuesdays only. [ 92 more words ] http://sweetvistafarms.org//04/10/chick-and-live-shipments/
My visitors while I’m out feeding the chickens snacks. What other pets or farm animals do y’all have besides chickens? Share pics here! We can all use the smile right now.
