Crawford County Sheriff's Office Press Release September 30, 2020 In the evening hours of September 29, 2020, members of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, a...long with members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bourbon Police Department and the Sullivan Police Department proceeded to 100 block of Landers Road, to search for a wanted subject, Kevin Griffin. Griffin had an active probation & parole warrant, with no bond. Griffin had pending charges with our office associated to resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon, assault, burglary, as well as a being a habitual drug offender and is known to act out violently. Griffin had been an absconder for some time and had been eluding arrest. During the investigation information was developed from a cooperating individual indicating Griffin was hiding beneath a mobile home. Deputies on scene contacted a resident, and a search of the residence was conducted. As a search was being conducted inside, officers outside identified Griffin beneath the residence attempting to conceal himself. An exchange verbally was initiated, and Griffin refused to cooperate. Due to a history of resisting arrest and possession of a firearm during a crime, it was determined that less lethal options were to be deployed to illicit a surrender from Griffin. Griffin, however continued to resist arrest and ignored the commands given. Griffin was eventually apprehended under the mobile home and taken into custody. Griffin was transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital for evaluation and fitness for confinement, before being transported to the Crawford County Adult Detention Facility. Two law enforcement officers sustained minor injuries during the arrest and were treated at a local hospital before being later released. One other officer was treated on scene for OC(Pepper Spray) exposure, by Sullivan EMS. The resident of the mobile home was also arrested, and charges will be sought for hindering prosecution, she was transported to the Crawford County Adult Detention Facility. On September 30, 2020, Kevin Griffin, age 40 of Bourbon was charged in the Associate Circuit Court of Crawford County with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action, and Assault 2nd Degree, with no bond set, stemming from an incident that occurred in October of 2019. Additional charges are being sought from incidents that occurred from two other occasions this month, including his apprehension. On September 30, 2020, Lisa Wright, age 44 of Bourbon, has was charged in the Associate Circuit Court of Crawford County with Hindering Prosecution, with her bond set at $2,500 cash/surety. Both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of competent jurisdiction. I would personally like to thank the Cuba Police Department, Bourbon Police Department, Sullivan Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Crawford County Central Communications, Sullivan Dispatch, Sullivan EMS, and our deputies for bringing this subject into custody. Their collaborate efforts have ensured the continued safety of our community and its residents. Sheriff Darin J. Layman Crawford County Sheriff's Office
